Thanks for a great and well run campaign, Nige. The level of the entries is fantastic. So many well researched aircraft.
It has been a joy to combine the modelling and the research for my own build as well as follow others builds.
See you all in the bar

Great campaign Nige. And thanks for the double-ribbon, even though I only did one build. You got me checking out my DD 214. (American military humor)
See you in the Thunderbolt.

Yayy! I've finally finished and uploaded pics to the campaign gallery. I've built Accurate Miniatures Yak-1b straight-outta-the-box with the kit markings for Sergei Lugansky's machine. It displays "32" indicating the number of kills. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a photo of the actual plane, only profile drawings, and the colours don't always seem to match the decals. Oh...ignore the fact that the sliding portion of the canopy is out of place. I didn't glue it on and it moved when I set the model down to shoot it..ooops!

Photos as promised, as discussed Nige - there aren't any photos of Butch in this plane, so a publicity shot it is.
Cheers

Andy, you are more than welcome to join us in the Officers Club wearing your shiny new ribbon
Dont forget, anyone who entered the campaign before the closing date can still qualify for a ribbon by posting thier finished photos in the gallery before Christmas.

Beautiful 109. The painted over effect on the German Markings looks great.

Yes, in fact I am.
Yesterday I sprayed an overall flattish clear coat. All there is to do now is add some weathering (exhaust stains, dirt & grime to wheels, perhaps a few paint chips here and there), paint a few details, remove masks, install antenna wire and then final assembly.
Here it is, after a first time trying out Promodeller's black wash, followed by a coat of 1:10 mixture of Tamiya flat base and future:
Oh, what a year...

Dont worry Eetu.
I have a ribbon sitting under a glass of single malt waiting on the bar for you
Your 109's looking really good,
How did you find the promodeller wash?
Anyone else going to finish before I close up the Aces High file?
Nige
BTW, Im going to propose another Aces Campaign at some point in the future, maybe 1st half of 2010

The wash behaved nicely, I was quite surprised how easy it was to use. Gotta get some other colors of that stuff as well...

Nigel:
I am very close to getting the Mustang done. It has vexed me so Just the landing gear and the canopy left. My first attempt at a NM finish and you warned me about masking that spinner. Sorry to be the tail end charlie on this one.

Oh man... What I should have done in a few days, took almost two weeks. But now it's done! It's finnished! (pun intended)
Uploaded some pics to the campaign gallery as required. And again, sorry for the delay.
Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6
S.Sgt Leo Ahokas, fighter squadron 24
Summer 1944
Ahokas' Bf-109G-6 after a forced landing onto a field in the summer of 1944 after being damaged in an air combat. Not the most glamorous photo of an ace's mount, I admit, but that was the only one I could find of MT-437.
No kill markings on this, as customary on Finnish 109s. During the continuation war Ahokas scored 12 kills, seven of them flying Brewsters, five with 109s.
And on to the model. Hope you like it.
Thanks again for running the campaign! It was a blast.
:-H
Another one next year?

Excellent Eetu!
I really like the painted over markings. Well worth waiting for and your profile has got a nice new shiny ribbon. Very well deserved too!
Taylor.
No rush, your ribbons waiting
Another Aces High?, I think 2010 will be a good time to do this again perhaps.

I'm in too. It will be something in the line of a Bf 109 I guess
And Eetu, that's a beauty you've got there. I hope I will be able to get 1:48's like that some day
