Hi Lakota.
With a name like Don Smith there really is only one pilots P-47 you could build for the campaign!
Apart from the famous Ole Cock Thunderbolts, "Dieppe" Smith also flew a P-47C called Hun Hunter.

I was considering doing a 1:32 Ole Cock III, but I also have decals for a 1:24th version which hasnt been released yet.
Its going to be a tough choice for me deciding on my build for this.

I'll be starting a pre campaign thread on the P-47 website in about a week.

I'm in!!! Cant wait to get my superglued fingers on the first WWII plane for me ever. Gonna try my luck at the Alcad too. I managed to get the 1/48 Hasegawa P-47D-25 Angie on sale at the LHS on black friday. So, I will begin doing some research From now till February. I cant quite leave a current V-22 project alone. I at least want to get to a point before cracking open something else.

Is anyone aware of necessary corrections to the kit? Or is she cleared for takeoff? I did notice that Angie looked a little pale and undefined. Maybe a decal kit is in order (if one is available).

Hi Nige

You can make that 55, because I've joined in too.

My build will be Koster's vacuform XP-72 conversion for the old Monogram P-47D "bubble-top".

All the best

Hi Nige

I've got a couple of photos in Roger Freeman's P-47 book and a few from the internet, but any detailed shots would be a huge help. I've found nothing showing the engine, cockpit or gun installation clearly yet - all just general views.

All the best

Merlin, can't you just build something easy once in a while?
That kit makes me sweat just thinking about it. As Nigel said, this will be a good one to watch. Hope you take plenty of progress shots.

Hi Hermon

Remember, I've also got a couple of Fw 190s on the go by Tamiya and Hasegawa - kits don't build much easier than those!

All the best

Hi to all the folks at Aeroscale. I'm wondering if you good folks could help out an old armour modeler. For a change of pace and keeping with my pledge to build only stash models in'09 I'm Starting Hagesawa's P-47D Razorback and have a question about cockpit colors, what federal standard number is used and is it the same color for wheel wells. Instructions say Gunze/MrColor interior green, but ModelMaster & Humbrol paints are what I have. Thanks and HELP !!!!

Hi.
Sorry for being late picking up on this.
Cockpit colour is Dark Dull Green.
Wheel well colour is the yellow zinc cromate.
You'll find an interesting thread where people talk about which paints they use to replicate this over on the P-47 SIG website
HERE
If your building your P-47 for the campaign you'll need to enlist to recieve your ribbon at the end.
The Cave Tonitrum Campaign page can be found

So far there are 59 modellers enlisted.
I dont think there have ever been 60 entrants in a campaign so the next person to enlist could find themselves making Aeroscale history!

Would like to do this one, since it's numbered "13". Has any decals ever been done for it in 1/48? If not, I'll find something else.....plenty to pick from!
