Tom,,it wouldn't happen to be painting a Razorback cockpit by any chance?

Jan.
I had a look what 325thFG decals were listed on Hannants but "13" wasn't amongst them.
So I guess thats a case "UN-lucky 13",,,sorry,,couldn't resist.

Both of you still need to officially enlist if you want a ribbon

The first finished builds are coming in for Cave Tonitrum.
Breaking the Campaigns "duck" was Von Cuda with his colourfull 9th AF NMF.

Then we have CMOT70 with his Razorback "Yankee Tarheel"

Latest addition is Dave Cox's 1:32nd RAF T'bolt MKII.

I'll throw one of my own attempts in there as well, although its not an official entry though.

We now have a record 65 entrants for the campaign!
The official Campaign Thread can be found on the Aeroscale P-47 SIG website HERE

The latest bunch of finished photos to be uploaded into the campaign gallery.
First up is this foil covered NMF 1:48th Razorback from Paddy Barratt

FalkeEins is our next ribbon winner with his 1:72 Revell D30 in French Markings

In a speed build of Betheyn proportions Paddy Barratt 's second entry is an RAF MKI, again from the Tamiya kit.

A couple of Revell D-30 kits built as P-47M's by myself next.Just to prove to myself I can still build 1:72 now and again. ( Can't see it, but I can still build it,, )

Both of these are from the Revell kit and are 1:72 scale.

Another "Balls Out", this time from FalkeEins.

And a very colourfull "Tarheel Hal" from Panos.

Not only is this 1:72nd but its foil covered as well!!!!

Cave Tonitrum now has 69 entrants!,but theres always room for more.
Looks like its going to be a busy second half of the year!

Hi there

I'll second Jean-Luc - there's some really fantastic work all round!

A double shot of 1:24th VFS M's from Dave Gee.

Crikey! I don't think I've even got room to build a 1:24 P-47, let alone pose a pair of them togteher!

I'm afraid having to move home has thoroughly stalled my plans to build an XP-72, but I'll try to submit something once i'm back up and running...

All the best

Shame about the XP72 Rowan, I was looking forward to seeing that one come together
Daves two 1:24th scale builds have gone to good homes.
One is with the people at Boxted and will be put into the museum when it eventually opens, and the other one is now resident at the original pilots home in Texas.

So far we have 22 finished entries in the campaign photo gallery.
With 72 entries and 3 months to go it looks like being a busy last part of the campaign!

Hi all,

Yeah, very late out of the blocks I know, but I have an OLD OLD OLD Monogram Razorback that has been yelling at me every time I pass it over in the stash. I will enlsit and see if I can't get it done in time.
By the way, some sensational builds here already !!

Cheers guys

Well, I finally wrapped mine up. It took about three to four months for me to finish this baby. It's Hasegawa's 1/72 P-47D, built straight OOB. The only thing I added were masking tape seatbelts, bits of styrene for sidewall details, and a stretched sprue stick. The cockpit is extremely spartan, but is nearly invisible once the canopy is on. I wanted to give it the look of a well-used war weary bird, so I weathered relatively heavily. Here's what I came up with:

I've posted more images in this thread.

I noticed that there are two campaign threads, so I posted in both, as I'm not sure which one is the official one.

This campaign is slightly different to the others in that its a P-47 SIG campaign which is a site within the Aeroscale network, hence what appears to be 2 threads.
The "official" campaign thread is on the P-47 site.
CAVE TONITRUM
Use that thread to post in progress photos etc.
Im using the thread in the main campaign section of Aeroscale to post finished entries and promote the P-47 SIG.
Hope this helps more than it confuses.

I'm off to a late start ..its been a bit chaotic at the Kopper residence. For the build, I chose Tamiya's P-47 D "bubble top". The build is going to be pretty much out of the box with the exception of interior PE details provided by Eduard. Below are pix showing the build at it's current state:
Assembly of the cockpit (had to cut/file off several of the plastic parts to be replaced by the PE counterparts.

After that, I painted the interior with Tamiya flat green and applied the PE parts. After that the interior received a coat of Future and was weathered using a Promodeller's clay wash.

Cheers,

Hermann

Ok everyone, we are into the last month of Cave Tonitrum.
Theres no reason why you shouldnt enlist if you want to join in the P-47 fun. You still have time.
Closing date for finished entries is officially 31st December.

So far, out of 76 entrants, 16 have completed their builds and posted photos in the GALLERY. Some of these modellers have posted multiple entries.

You need to post at least one photo of your completed Thunderbolt to qualify for your campaign ribbon.
If anybody feels they need an extension dont be afraid to ask.

Almost the end of the year, and hasnt it been a quick one!
Anybody requiring an extension let me know.
I will be awarding the ribbons asap after the campaign closes.
Anyone finishing their models after the end date just post the finished photo in the gallery and PM me. I'll then award the ribbon.

Hi Nige. My P-47 is in pieces, but I am hoping to do a marathon build and get her complete by the end of the day....I have nothing else to do in waiting for the New Years party tonight so what the hell? I had totally forgot about enlisting in this campaign, but I don't want to drop the ball as it were and will do my best to make it happen. It is the old Monogram offering in 1/48 scale. I have a plethora of decals for the 47 so choosing one shouldn't prove too bad. Times a wastin'. Back soon......hopefully with a completed build. Thanks, "Q"

HOLY CRAP THAT WAS FUN!! I haven't built something that fast since I was a kid and then promptly blew it up with a firecracker.... A little over six hours from when I posted the initial intent of trying to finish it. I'll be the first to admit it is not my finest work and I had to find a prop, and tail wheel, but this was a kick in the pants to do so fast. I decided that since it was going to be a speed build I wasn't going to risk trashing my stash of Aeromaster decals I have for several other builds on it, and decided on the what if Japanese version. The red stripes came from the Hasegawa F-104C kit and are almost a perfect fit for this scheme. All the rest are sourced from the spares box. Hope you like it Nige. Thanks for the encouraging..."GO for it!" lol. Thanks, "Q"
About an hour into it..

Primer with filler...several coats..

Tamiya Silver Leaf base coat...gotta love how fast they dry

Decals..almost complete

All thats left in the box...looks like I have some spare parts for other things.

And, the completed Thunderzeke
