Hi all,
In fact, with all the sets he has, he can do models without using the donor kits...
This is what I've got yesterday...

ET TU, BRUTE!
Jean-Luc .. don't you know that strange NZ company only does models in the wrong scale
In fact I can not .. I still need one or another part from the kit. I am not like a certain frenchman who designs his own model kits only to be jumped by a small Czech company
cheers

Yaeh, something like that. He's a good candidate to create a new modelling category: "no-surfaces kits, only insides"

Hi all,
Here is what I've got yesterday...
They all seem to be very nice kits. I now have all four versions of the UM truck.

I lovely collection of kits Jean-Luc. The Gosling is so cute looking! I like the smaller flying boats- the Gosling and the Supermarine Walrus/Seagull.
Do you have any plans for the Russian trucks? I have bought one which I am hoping will pass for a British Leyland one- certainly looks similar, but may be quite a bit bigger!

Hi Ben,
No plans right now. But if I need to build one, I think I'll tackle them all at the same time rather than doing them one by one...

Hi All
I got this over the last days:
Nice haul. What do you use as your main reference book, "The bible", for Bf 110?
Posted: Saturday, August 08, 2009 - 12:45 AM UTC
Hi Tuomas
Well, in general terms (read not modeling specific) I think I will use the Mankau-Petrick book. Sadly the pix are very small (at least in the German edition) so for "the modeling bible" I think we should hope for John Vasco ... for the early variants there is already his book ...
all the best

But exactly brougth by the postman, but myself from the LHS in the last two weeks.
Even though I already have two VL Myrsky kits, I just had get a third... I don't know for certain what I found appealing in it (apart from the 10€ price tag). Perhaps it was the simplicity and crudeness. Most probably the crudest kit in my stash at the moment. Not crude in the way of bad casting quality (except for the engine and one main landing gear leg with the metal bracing wire inside facing the wrong direction) but how most of the detail parts are not included must be built from scratch. This is truly a "kit builders" model kit. The decals look excellent though.
And then there's the AML Curtiss hawk interior set.
I had been both reluctant and tempted to get this set for the AML hawk kit I have in my stash as the only parts featured in this set and not already inluded in the kit are the cockpit sidewalls and control surfaces. But now when I bought this I was looking for a replacement engine for the aforementioned resin kit: I got two birds stone at once (to quote Ricky from TPB ) There's a nice twin wasp for the aforementioned resin kit, cockpit sidewalls and control surfaces for the hawk. Now with two sets of resin parts I can also pick the best castings for the hawk, when I get around actually building it. (there's some bubbles and broken bits etc. in the smaller parts)

Not today but on Friday and not the postman but my company-partner (on my birthday). As usual I'm confused 'cos I don't know which one take first on the workbench ;P

These arrived on Friday from Hannants. Eduard 1/32 P-47 Placards and Aires 1/48 Phantom wheel bay set
And while at a model horse show yesterday I picked these up from a firm called Horsing Around
I've heard of Dullcote many a time on these forums but find it difficult to get a hold of in the UK. I can't wait to give it a try in my quest for a better matt varnish

I think you will like the dullcoat form Testors . it's the only one I use for my matt finishes . When brush it over acrlyics make sure you have a good seal on the paint , it will attack the paint .

Very nice Steve!! I intend to get the new boxing of the Mossie with the Tilly ...
Today was another good day at Steffens cave. The postman just delivered this:
(sorry it is pretty unsharp)
I finally got the instructions and the decals (printed by cartograph!!) for my Academy F-22A testshot. The Italeri F-84F is the Kinetic kit and a very nice decal sheet (yes you guessed it: printed by cartograph). the Bf109G-14/AS is just because I do not have one yet (on my website and it's maybe a perfect mate for my LifeLike decals) and the La-5 is also a nice little kit have a look here: Rowans Review

Steffen are you opening hobby store soon? Looks like you buy 10 models and 5 decals for every model you finish!
Posted: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 01:45 AM UTC
Well I must confess, that I do not buy all the stuff I show you. e.g. this delivery was samples .. .. I could not afford so much models. I maybe buy one model every 2 or 3 months though it is a bit more on AM stuff but mostly when moduni throws the stuff out like there is no tomorrow ... OTOH I will have to live with 20 Euro for the rest of the month .. no joke.

This arrived from Lucky Model yesterday.
It's not very interesting but due to some stupid EU ruling 18 months or more ago Tamiya metallic paints were recalled from UK shelves due to some labelling issue. As there is still no news as to when these will be back, I decided to source some outside of the UK and stock up on some of the metallics I use quite often.
