Good morning to all , Have my morning coffee here ready to start my day . I hope every one had a wonderful Christmas !

The lower lozenge has been applied , check it this morning and to my surprise no air bubbles ! I will add a coat of super sol to aid in them snuggling down better around the details . A few touch ups are needed when that's done a coat oof future will layed down on top . Then start the rib taping tonight (have to work today ) followed with the national markings . Here are the pic's !!!

The lozenge is Microsulpt 4 colour lower . For those of you who are looking for replacemants for the kit ones . I do reconmmend on giving this a try . Stephen has used them already on one of his Fokker builds which I believe is the five color .

I did forget to paint the white and black stripes on the center of the lower wings ( oops ! ) and I also still need to apply the lozenge to the control surfaces . Some how they remained attached to the spruce ! I'm getting closer and closer on having this one done !

Yeah it's nice to have that extra time every now and then . Sprayed another coat of gloss on the rib tapes , soon as that has finished drying . I can begin !

This is one awesome looking bird, Terri. That looks like it was a beast of a masking job.

Thank-you very much Justen . It did take some time to do the masking , little over an hour .
I didn't want to rush at this . I tried to get the stripes as even as possible and starting from the tail , laying down the first piece at the right angle and using the same width of tape I laid one down beside it followed by another one then removed the center one etc, etc, etc until it was all done . My math isn't the greatest and I'm short one stripe . But I'm very happy with the way it turned out in the end .

I'm on a roll here , rib taping is now finished ! and the smaller details pick out with paint .
I would have pic's up , but the batteries in the camera are telling me something completely different ! ( I didn't have the bunny inside ) . Almost done with the other smaller details as and final assembly can start . My fingers are crossed on hoping that the cab/struts line up with the framing around the engine .................................

Thank-you Lars ! I'm all smiles on how well this project is turning out . until I had a miss-hap ! The "N" struts are way to short . Making the mistake of lightly gluing them into place to hold them there while the top wing was being test fitted and seeing the results of that . I wasn't in the mood to deal with the situation ( heard Stephen's voice in the back of my head ) , just walk away ! so I did , but left the struts in place . Cleaning up the holes , I drilled through the lower wing ! ( OOPS ! ) So some touch up is needed . I have one new strut so far and will do the final trimming when test fitting .

Sure Lars , you are more then welcome to have it when it's finished ! Now I must say I'm touched over then envy part , but the work that you guys produce is far ahead of me ! There's some pretty big shoes to fill here on this site . No fear though , you guys have been a great aid in my improvements which lead to having constance results which are positive

Here are the pic's ...........

- Houston, we have a problem.......

OAW machines used medium blue ribs tapes over the upper and lower surface of wings. The Albatros Werke Fokker D.VIIs used salmon pink tapes on their aircraft

Maybe you can fix this problem,

Great progress anyway!

Thanks Kalt , I know about the colour of the rib tapes . Do to having problems right off hand and ruinning most of what I had . There was just enough to do the top surface . There is Lot's of the pink left though ! For the pink I ended spraying decal film instead of gloss lacquer . Which gived me better results to work with . And there is about three coats of future on top of that . So fixing it will not happen . Big waste of supplies for me . However next time I will use all blue . All in all this has been a great learning experience for me .

Wow you guys have good eyes !

And todays progress is ....Drum roll please !

Top wing has been mounted new " N " struts are in place , which I had to redo , angle was wrong . Finally it's starting to look like a plane . No jig was used for mounting the top wing , all done by free hand with sore eyes in the end .

Well this is all for tonight more up in a few days .............................

VERY VERY nice !!!! ,
About the rib tapes, don't worry all of us learn much more from a mistake. Now, you will never forget that OAW machines used blue tapes and Albatros pink...

I had done the same mistake myself almost certainly, Terri so don’t worry too much. To correcting this with all that Future on you will need to restart with new wings and try to get the lover wings apart from the fuselage. FORGET IT. If someone mentions this in public, give that person a beer or two. We all make mistakes and it’s from them we learn also.
Finish this one up Terri, it’s awesome.

Thanks Kalt , next time I will also make sure I have extra rib taping for when I ruin a few of them . Have some ideas here in my head and have tried out one of them , had good results just need to find a thin subsitute , more on this later .

Lars , that's what I was thinking , not worth it . and trying to remove the lower wing assembly would be more then a nightmare . The plastic has been really thinned in that area when I was constructing the cockpit with the new frame work . I added bracing under the floor to help with the support in that area just hope it was enough . time will tell I guess . I did make the " N " struts out 0.8mm wire coated with plastic to give the top wings better support .

Thanks Doug for the kind words always nice to hear from you .

Well Terri, I kinda missed some of your progress with my flying incident......... I do like that rib taping job. Nice and thin, straight as an arrow. Coming together nicely. Hmmm rigging now...........

Looking good!

A note about rib tapes. If you have them on hand and they are the correct color, all is well. But making them is so simple and you can have them within minutes. But, that's just me.

Thanks Steve , Rodens decals do have their challenges ! Few small fit issues but nothing major .

Jeff , good to hear from you . I tried using tamiya masking tape painted light blue . Worked not to bad , but still to thick . Clear tape will be next . I have decal paper and setter . I was going to spray that , but colour issues so until I can get a shade that's close . I will try new methods and save the decal paper for now . might even try doing some on the computer .

Gee Mark , I glad you are enjoying this build

Thanks Dwayne . It has been along build with great results . Almost done with the smaller details now . little more feathering with light coats of paint for the prop , black stripes on the wheel covers and finish of the rudder . Just glad that there isn't a lot of rigging to do on this build .

Happy New Year .

Teehee.
I obsessed about those holes in my F1 and then forgot to put the control lines on untill after I had posted photos of the "Finished" artical.

Cheers,

Hugh
