Good work persevering on this, Chuck! A thrilling segment for sure!

Fitting the wings for symmetry is often the biggest make-or-break moment for me. Many kits do not survive... Twin engines with really long prominent nacelles are especially difficult, since they seem to magnify any sort of misalignment... Some kits also have one wing a bit thicker than the other, raising the nacelle top and thus tilting the tailplane reference...

My Monogram B-26 did offer a bit of wing trouble, but nothing like this... However, symmetry upon the installation of the "Lone Star" cowls was extremely difficult, because the gel cyano has no hold until it "freezes" (never tried Epoxy yet). Accelerator would be of no use given the complexity of the reference checks... The cowls had to be broken off several times each, by sharply rapping their intake tops with a hammer, before acceptable symmetry was finally achieved by carving the plastic contact areas. Had it been a full-round cowl design, they would have crumbled...

With one engine open, symmetry must be even harder to judge...

Good luck with the 410, and happy new year!

Gaston

Chuck's Tales are always interesting, no matter what they are about.

Before reading the last update I was affraid that Chuck will never join the wings and fuselage together and ugrading&detailing them separately will become a "Never Ending story" (the only thing that was missing was a flying dog, but I guess it was just a matter of time). Good to see that his 410' starts to look like an airplane model...

Chuck - you're a brilliant modeler and I want you to know that (it's not a proposal).

This forum really rocks! I'm blown away- and humbled- by all the groovy vibes from you cool cats. Cheers! Thanks for sticking with me, guys- much appreciated. Life's been keeping me quite busy, and last week's upper respiratory infection didn't help! Here's what humble progress I've been able to rack up in the last two weeks- roll 'em, Fritzi!

Hey Chuk,

Yes, sheet plastic and stretched sprue are great canyon fillers. I usually wet the area with glue to melt and weld the two pieces togethers with a little push using some sort of flat tool. A quick hit with sandpaper and done.

Thanks, everybody!

It's been one of those weekends- drained, cleaned and refilled hot tub (yes, I know- life is tough!), fixed drain in lawn, fertilized gardens and lawn, maintained fresh- and saltwater fish tanks- realized hot water heater had up 'n'died.

Uh, I don't think that you would get any result other than a large and deep puddle of drool on the floor if you send in Fritzi and Hannah.

I've gotten sick and tired of having all these little sub-assemblies taking up space on the bench, so I decided to start sticking everything together. Naturaaly I had to add some details along the way- right, Fritzi?

Welcome back Chuk!

Interesting way of building the mass balance for the trim tab. Also want to see the fix to the canopy, I would have ordered a replacement part if available.

I still would like to see a swimsuit calendar with Fritzi and Hannah!

Hi Chuck,

Outstanding!!!!

OK, sorry to admit that this is my first time at this epic. I love it!

While Fritzi und Hannah have their particular appeal by accentuating the positive (Hey, that's a P-40 I built!), Pfenning is a riot! "This guy is a total jerk..."--hilarious!
