Hello chuk

beautiful update as always ... even if hannah is a bit sloppy on officers dress cote

I have a question: Did you testfit the canopy before you beefed up the pit? Older aires sets are know to require the plastic thinned to a foil thickness to fit correct and in your pictures it seems as if the resin pit had spread the cockpit opening.....just a thought (and please do not kill the messenger)

all the best

I am not much of an aircraft modeler, nor do I usually have much interest in WW2 Axis subjects.

But Chuk's outstanding modeling talents - to say nothing of his wicked skill with the pen & ink - have me hooked yet again. This build is quite literally amazing.

Thank you, thank you! Aeroscalers are a great bunch, indeed.

Steffen- that's a good call! I checked the canopy parts and while the main canopy fits, the windshield in a bit pinched. I'll take that into account when making new vacs. Thanks!

Paul Barton- I'm all ears- post a pic!

So much going on- so little modeling time! Why are automobile tail lights so hard to change, and styrene so easy to over-sand? In one case, the hands are too big- and in the other, WAY too big! Ditch-digging would make a greta hobby, don't you think?

Excellent update this week Chuck- you're an expert teacher as well as a modeller, storyteller and artist.

What do you use to apply the liquid cement into the re-scribed lines? I have been using a sharpened piece of sprue as a final pass over the lines, and it removes most of the little bits of plastic caught in the line, without making the line deeper.

Thanks, Damian!

Ben, I use a Touch-N-Flow applicator. It's the best for any use of liquid cement short of brushing over wide surfaces. Thanks!

hi chuck! i'd just like to echo whats already been said about this informative and entertaining thread.
on a more practical note, i have a bunch of photos of the 410 in the RAF museum cosford, i took them because i have 3 70's era revell 410 kits in my stash, but only one half started (it needed a heck of a re-scribe on those raised panel lines!) if you like i could get them up on photobucket.
and when your build is done is there any chance of hannah and fritzi popping round here to sort out my 410s...?

I was a bit tight on time this weekend- I'd sent the girls home on leave. Hope you understand, friends! Pfennig steps up to the plate to bring you this update as only he can- enjoy!

Thanks, Damian- I don't think Pfennig will let them get that far away, though. He's such a control freak!

Well, it's been a crazy weekend, but I did manage to get a little done. Here's the mixed bag of achievements, as presented by my helpers- go, Fritzi!

The little tips and tricks you show all through the builds are a great reference. Of course, it all seems so simple when you do it. Thanks for keeping us entertained.

Chuk,

Did you use Tamiya silver on the engine bay pipes? In the past I've found that the Tamiya silver/metallics are a bit "flaky" with silver bits. Nowaday for brushed on silver and such I use Floquil Bright and Old Silver.

Looking good and waiting for more.

Now that it's winter in the States will there be a "Snow Bunny" edition with the girls? Bikinis and snow seem like a natural for them.

Thanks, Russ!
Joe, I find that silver detail painting is really for rare circumstances, like oleo struts. the rest of the time metal tends to oxidize and lose the metallic sheen that "silver" paint has. It's more gray and weathered, and the bright metal effect, whatever the paint quality, looks fake to my jaundiced eye. For those oleos and bits I prefer a nice bottle of Polly S Bright Silver from the Goode Olde Days. Cheers!

I had a great Thanksgiving holiday with family, and drew the base sketch for this sitting at the kitchen table, chillin'. More modeling for next time- enjoy!
