Always a pleasure to drop in and see your excellent progress Chuck !
Nice to see a replacememnt for the canopy , sucks that some of the framing is on the out side . Could you sand that away and polish the area and replace the framing on the inside where it should go . I really never work with vac canopies before so I do look forward on how you would tackle this .

Hi Chuk,
Sorry again for the wrong codes and now for the glitch on the leg of the "F". It didn't look like a problem but I can see from your close ups that it is. I am looking at upgrading the machine that I use to illiminate this type of problem. It's difficult to see how bad this is, even through a magnifying glass, were all the "Fs" the same?

Thanks, all! I hope to get modeling time in and a small update tomorrow. Just got back from my friends' wedding- ![](../modules/SquawkBox/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Gaston, the kit canopy is good, but looks a bit "bulgey" to me. The CMK example is much sleeker and matched photos better to my eye. It's upper longitudinal rails are a bit too far apart- and the Monogram's are a bit to close together. I plan to split the difference in my version.
Terri, I contemplated doing just that, but the vac is just to thin. I think it would either go right through or weaken it too much. Oh, mercy!
No worries, Mal- all is well. A spot of paint and glitch will be history. Many thanks for your prompt response! Yes, all the "F' masks had the same small problem- I'm glad to hear you can correct it. I haven't had much model time, but I do sneak looks at how damned good the painted insignia looks!
Cheers!

Well, I attended the wedding of dear friends this weekend, and still had time to do a bit on the 410. Let's start this post with an image appropriate to our American holiday:

Amazing work Chuckw! I don't know if I'll ever dare to "oil up" a nearly finished aircraft model like that... I'll have to re-read what you did on this episode to fully understand all that was going on this time... Pfweew!
Thanks for your answer to my canopy question: Yes, I hadn't noticed those longitudinal frames are really far from agreeing with each other! Can't wait to see how you solve the problem...
I used to smash-mould my own canopies using Squadron's Thermaform. I think it's a rotten shame Squadron don't offer it anymore... It worked beautifully and exactly as advertised, and now you can't get it anymore...
Gaston

Wow- two weeks have flown by! Thanks, everyone- and cheers! I've been on vacation to North Carolina for a good chunk of that time, and this Sunday was spent pulling life back together. This weekend I hope to get in some work on the canopy roll cage, as well as casting a better plug off the vac. Wish me luck!
Thierry- that's a beautiful pic of the plane- do you have any photos that show the rudder? People seem to disagree on the colors there. Cheers!

Ah, life! It's all in the timing. I've been moving the household cross country and was without connectivity for....wait for it....about 2 weeks, and thought I would have to play 'ketchup' on this, and other, threads. But as Fate would have it--I haven't missed a thing on this one.
It's really looking good Chuck. (As if it would look anything but excellent)
I hope you had a good vakay and Independence Day.
Keith

People have asked me one many occasions about the mysterious dot filter technique, whispered about in seedy backroom bars and the isolated huts of ominous mystics. All is revealed below- with plenty of pics that, under careful study, will show this useful tool in its natural habitat- Fritzi?

Excellent tutorial- I don't think I will be trying the vac-form plug making anytime soon (looks far to painful and skilled), but the dot filter looks great. This is the kind of modelling I am aspiring to!
