Excellent wood grain Mark . I have nevered tried water colour for doing a wood grain , but I like the results of it . Masking would be an issue though for the water colour wouldn't really have a bite to it . Since this is in the inside so far it will be safe . Maybe spray Tamiya clear which would have less bite then what a lac would have . Also just a note on Hyperscale in the plastic theme forums this is also a big discussion on the colour of the fusealge .
Looking forward to seeing more !!!!

For the fuselage colour...I scoured around, and the windsock file...I'm of the conclusion that the fuselage should be darker....the A/C I chose to do is the boxcover,,,STRIPED??? Terri.
But there is a pic of it in the datafile but the pic looks pale allover and we all know the reliability of WW1 film so I think I will go for the darkened ply look anyway. most every other A/C looks dark
Keith

Wouldn't the lac finish get darker over time from the elments and oil and such ?
The fuselage in the second pic is a lot lighter then the first one . Could it also be that different manufactures used different lacs depending on what they had on hand at the time ?

Thanks for the info on the fuselage colors. When I bought the kit I kinda figured there would be major discussion and contention on the natural wood colors. That's OK and leads to some very important information sharing. Since I'm building OOB, I'll be putting my faith in Ronnie Bar's profiles with the assumption that he has put much research into them. Here's the one I intend on modelling......................

You can see from some of the other profiles that Ronnie has included many other very nice color options on other aircraft.................

I'll be building at least 2 more LVG's with superdetailing. (Part of Poland - please release a detail set) I'll be using differing colors for their fuselages for variety. I really like the darker color.

I've added loops to the rudder bar with thin black wire..........................

Here the controls are installed with a few control lines.......................

the gas tank is installed.............................

the radio and wireless...........I think the wireless reel should be on the side of the fuselage above the hole.............

all it lacks now is the pilot seat and seatbelts. Almost ready to close it up.

more soon,
Mark

Mark,
Really looking sweet, excellent job on the wood grain and the interior as a whole.
I have a question and the Lozenge Meisters may need to consult on this one. I was under the impression that most two seat machines had the lozenge fabric applied on an angle. Did the Wingnutters get this one wrong?
Looking forward to hearing the reply on this one as I have this beauty in my stash.
Great work Mark.
Regards, Dwayne

Dwayne,
Here's a picture of the lozenge application from the instructions. The arrows show the direction of the lozenge.

Keith,
Here are a few more pictures for you.
