There is one solution for the B-36, don't cement the wings in place. Monogram thoughtfully provided a huge spar for the wings and you don't have to glue them on if you don't want. I have to keep moving my 1/32 F-105G around the house to keep it out of view of the Wife who complains I fill up any little hole in the house with another plane or tank..

Have added a bit more paint to the B-47. I painted the wheel wells in zinc chromate to help break up the sea of silver and floro red. I attached the wing pylons and need to work on them a bit as there is a definite step between them and the wing. I sanded this area down slightly and then filled the resulting gap with Mr. Surfacer 500. Will blend all of this back together once it cures out, then repaint the area. Gloss coat and decals aren't far off. More to follow. Thanks, "Q"

Ok! Matt, you are showing off again and with a silver bird that has flourescent orange feathers. Great job still, I cannot wait to see it finished. I took time off from the homework to veiw the thread.

Thanks for looking Bob. I hated accounting when I was in school. Midway through my semester they dropped the requirement for it from my degree program so I basically ended up taking it for nothing. At least I have the general idea of how things are supposed to work. That whole debits and credits thing threw me. Very counter intuitive to say the least. The rest of my classes I can deal with. Gotta love a degree program where mountain biking, kayaking, skow shoeing, and fly fishing are part of the course load. Hoping to continue with her today and have some gloss coat on her by this this evening. Thanks, "Q"

Ok, after more than enough hours drying, the Future is nice and hard and she has some decals on her. Still a few more to go on, but I like the way it looks thus far. Need to detail and install the fiddly bits, shade the panel lines and then shoot a final clear coat. I'm thinking this one will wear a semi-gloss finish. Shouldn't be long now. Thanks, "Q"

Matt, how difficult were the wing walklines to install? Still looking good.

Not too bad at all. The trick in dealing with them when they are that long is to cut them into more managable pieces. I cut mine down into thirds. They fall along natural panel lines so I used that as a guide in keeping them straight. Lots of water helped keep them movable as they wanted to stick immediately. Luckliy there isn't a whole lot of them to deal with. Should finish up the decals this week end and then move on to the fiddly bits. Already misplaced/lost one of the wing tank stabilizers/braces so I'll have to fab a new one if I can't locate it. Thanks for the kudos.

@ Matt: again that is a nice job. I just received my Hasegawa P3C which I will change into the B/C model that I flew on back a hundred years ago. Took for ever to find the kit (finally looked on evil bay).

Warren I am not entering into the BBB campaign, but YES the P3 is classified a bomber. We had a bomb bay and wing racks.

Well this beastie is complete and going in the gallery. Not my best work by far but it's definitely an eye catcher and photographs well. I lost one of my wing tank sway braces so I left the other one off. Should I locate it later, I'll install them. Thanks for all the kudos along the way. Looking forward to seeing the remainder of the builds from all of you as they come in. Thanks again for participating in my campaign. Now to get cracking on some of the other campaigns I've enlisted in. Thanks, "Q"

Man. That stratojet turned out beautifully
I'm ready to jump in now with my campaign project. weighed a lot of choices on the shelf and the one I've wanted to pull down the most is the Promodeler Ju-88.
I've been reading a lot of reviews and build logs on that particular kit and it has a reputation for needing to be tamed to get a good build (but in 1/48 its the only game in town).
So the plan is simple: I'm going to back date a Promodeler Ju-88C-6 to an A4. I'll add resin cockpit bits and Eduard PE bits and hope I can finish it by the deadline. (if anyone has experience with this kit feel free you share your thoughts. Right now I'm trying to identify all the pitfalls before I wade into it.)
Wish me luck!
Cheers,
Fred

Beautiful Stratojet, Matt. Striking scheme. Did they paint them like this, so they could find them in case they crashed with a nuke on board?
Looking forward to get started on my entry, but need to get a few projects of the table first.

Beautiful job Matt. I'm almost tempted to break out my Stratojet, all I need is a place big enough to build it, and display it.

Thanks Fred. Glad you like it. It holds it own for the age of the kit..
Bob- TOT is soon. Thanks for the kudos. It looks good in the case.
Mark- Glad you like it. It actually has a smaller foot print that I thougt it would. If you want some inside info on building it, ping me offline and I'll fore warn you about some of its warts. Not hard to deal with, just annoying. Thanks again for the kudos all, much appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words Jesper. The paint scheme was applied to aid in finding them if they crashed, but these usually weren't "Go bomb the bad guys bombers", but research aircraft for various purposes. The schemes also allowed other pilots to see them in the air soas to help in avoiding mid-air collisions. It's pretty easy to lose sight of a plane up there in all that sky. A lot of the planes that flew to the south pole or other such places were painted in these hi-viz schemes to aid in finding them should the go down in the ice/snow. Beautiful Stratojet, Matt. Striking scheme. Did they paint them like this, so they could find them in case they crashed with a nuke on board?

I had the B-47 sitting around for decades doing nothin and, stupidly, I decided to get rid of it last year. I had the Minicraft boxing with not quite as much dayglo, but it was very stylised the way it had been applied. I have just got back into braille scale with an Academy B-17 and will have to keep my eyes open for another one of these/ Always thought they were lovely looking planes.
Great work "Q"..
My Mosquito is awaiting its final dull coat. Is quite large in 1/32

Thanks Matt, I might just take you up on the offer. OTOH, the kit is has been in the box since Christmas of '68. I've moved from coast to coast and back again since then. My skills may have grown enough to tackle it but, my modeling and storage space has shrunk alot.

Thanks for the info on the scheme, Matt.
Hope to be able to start my entry soon.

Hi Everyone.
Well I finally finished my entry. It may have been one of the smaller bombers in real life, but in the modelling world the Revell 1/32 Mosquito is fairly large!
Fit is not too bad in places, but absolutely atrocious in others. Lots of filler in places is the order of the day. There are a few problems including the shape of the canopy, but this one was built OOB and it looks a bit like a Mosquito to me!
Good luck with all the great builds going on here. I am off to the hobby room to continue my 1/32 Trumpeter Bf109E-3.

Finished my Grief......Finally!!!
It was a great learning experience and i've learned a lot from all the other great builds here [and i have shamelessly copied a lot of ideas too]
Like i said at the start, there were a lot of "Firsts" for me in this build. During the course of the built i learned how to:
1. Cut Masking tape and not fingers.
2. Use putty to solve problem areas and not dis-solve plastic
3. How to use an airbrush
4. How to use PE [still lot of work needed here]
5. Weathering [still in the Kindergarten]
6. etc etc
@ 'Q'
Thanks for the campaign
My pathetic attempt at weathering......my plane look more like a tank with all that mud
Custom built display stand [using Jenga Blocks]
Hope my friend doesn't mind
Cheers
