Got some enthusiasm to get some modelling done this weekend first time in ages (I actually worked on all 4 campaign entries Im signed up for) . Still have broken leg in cast as well, hence lack of modelling and updates.

All the main compents are together and just need attaching to each other.

Wow Raj, great work there. I assume you masked the scheme on the Heinkel?

Bob, it never hurt to have too many compliments from too many people! Russell

Nice work everybody The big guy is about ready for paint. I shot the hi-viz orange on the engines, pylons, and drop tanks over a flat white base coat to make them "pop" better. Will mask over this and shoot the gloss white, mask and shoot the ADC Gray and finally the silver and other metallics. There is lots of masking on this bad boy. Hopefully all comes out well. Keeping my fingers crossed. More to follow. "Q"

Yes Russell. I sprayed the RLM02 base coat first. Then i used tamiya tape and a hobby knife to cut the masks [and 2 of my fingers ]before spraying the 73 shade. Once both were dry, i sprayed a lacquer clear [automobile paint ]coat on top to make it [look] glossy. Hopefully tomorrow i can start with the decals.

That brings me to my doubt. I managed to pick up Mr Mark Softner and Setter. But i cant make out head or tail of the instructions. Will you be able to tell me how to use it??

Cheers

Hi all.

How did you break your leg Samantha? Something to do with devil by night??

My 1/32 Mossie is coming along very slowly.. So much filler in it it has quadrupled in weight. Yet none at all in the wing/fuselage joins... strange..

This one is at the stage of 'oh let's just get the damn thing finished' I am afraid.

I fixed the decals by using a cotton bud soaked in Metho to remove the black marks.. Nothing APPEARS to have gone wrong with them. Ignorance is bliss at the moment..

Anybody got any earplugs? I have a feeling I am going to need them when this thing is done and revealed. It is already loud with the masking still on it! I ran out of paint. I used an entire bottle of Model Master Flourecent Red on this thing. It took that many coats to get the coverage I needed....and I still have areas to paint. I have some Humbrol in the same color but it is reacting strangely with the lacquer thinner and clogging my airbrush no matter how thin I mix it. Not a big deal. Will give me time to let this dry and plan my next move. This will be an eye catcher if nothing else. More to follow. "Q"

Wow Matt, that's a big bird. I've had one in the stash for years. Have no idea what to do with it once I get it built.

Hey Raj, I assume that you are talking about softening solution and setting solution? If so, I usually, just use some softening agent on my decals.

I apply the decal to the plastic. Make sure it settles down alright. Then I let the decal dry a few minutes, followed by an application of the softening agent. I let that work a few minutes, then I blot with a paper towel the decal making sure it doesn't move, or go anywhere. Generally that conforms the decal to the surface. Make sure of course before decal application that you apply a good coat of gloss coat over the model. Let the model dry overnight, then go to decaling. Hope this helps some Raj. Good luck. Russell

Hi! Matt,
Is your drive way big enough to handle the landing gear, and do you have the snow removal equipment for this a/c to safely maneuver? Looking good Matt.

I'd need to reinforce the ceiling at my place.

Then I'd have a place for the B-52, B-36, YB-45, XB-70, C-130....

Is this the vacuform kit and will you use metal spars to hold those monster wings on? I saw a B-36 in 1/48 for sale by Sanger vacuform.

Get your sunglasses ready...Even before the silver has been laid in, you can see that it is going to be one colorful bird. Will begin masking for the silver and other colors tonight. Hopefully I can bring all the parts together soon.
Thanks, "Q"

Well, I shot the silver and unmasked her today. She is a bright one. Still need to shoot the ADC gray yet. Decided to save that color for last as it is a gloss and will take longest to dry. Need to do some touch ups on the silver/floro red demarcation in a few spots, but nothing serious. Hoping to keep moving on this one as I am beginning to lose some interest in her for some reason. More to follow. Thanks, "Q"

Still going to be eye catching, don't give up yet. There's a B-47 parked outside of an air museum I pass every day, I allways take a look.

I've got one of those too, two in fact, but even with all the room I have in my "man-land" I don't have room to display them once built We've got a B-47 just south of here at an air museum. She's been outdoors for too long. Wish they would move her inside before she succombs to the elements. I'll keep pluggin away at this one, but I really want to be done with her.....and soon. Thanks, "Q"
