Hi all
I have just written a campaign proposal and submitted it this afternoon. I have proposed a start date of 01/01/2011 and to finish 31/06/2011. I think we have about 11 interested so far. Thanks for everyones support .

Count me in. I'm getting back into this after a 20 year layoff and the proposed start date should let me get a plane or two under my belt before I start a Spitfire. I have a particular Vb in mind.

That's a good idea as I have tons of Spits waiting to be build (you can never have enough Spits at home - like Bf 109). I might be in with a dual combo of Mk. VIII and/or IX. Still have to think about it. 2011 is still some time to go. I will let you know .....

Welcome back to the hobby Mike and glad to have your interest in the campaign. Come on Torsten, I can here the Spits in your stash chanting 'build me, build me'.

Hi all
Here is the link if you want to sign up for this campaign.
http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=415
hmmm, I thought you would be able to go straight to the spitfire link. You can sign up if you go to forums and go to campaigns looking for enlistees.
This will be the ribbon,it's a bit rough and need some retouching. Hope you all like.

Hi Bruce
You are more than welcome to join us particularly as it's your first campaign {if the campaign is a go]. We will do our very best to get you through it, so if you need any advice, dont be afraid to ask. Any ideas on a particular Mark of Spit you would like to do?
tim
not yet Tim. The project on my work bench right now is a Mk Vb. So I will try to do something different. 1/48 scale for sure.

Hi Tim,
I just signed up!
I also took the liberty of adjusting your proposed ribbon a little. The ribbon needs to be tiny indeed (50 x 20 pixels), which poses a few problems. Here's my remade draft based of your suggestion;
A)
And here's another suggestion (a little clearer, in my view);
B)
Just suggestions. I'm sure that there are others that can make more elaborate ribbons out there.
Cheers! // PolarBear

Hi Bjorn
Thanks for the campaign ribbons, no I don't mind at all, the more folk getting involved in creating a campaign ribbon we can be all proud of recieving the better. I like ribbon [b] of the two you submitted. I would encourage more people to give more input into the ribbon design, we have plenty of time before the campaign begins. At the moment I am looking into whether it's possible to create the Spitfire PR Mk XlX in 1/48 or 1/32 scale, with it's contra rotating prop. I saw one at Duxford a couple of summers ago and fell in love.

That ought to be possible. For the regular conversion in 1/48, the most recommended kit would be the Academy XIVc with the Airwaves conversion (which I am currently looking for myself). A good start is this site. For the counter-rotating prop, you would probably have to snatch one from another kit (such as the Airfix Seafire)
For the 1/32, perhaps you can get some inspiration from this article.
If you wish to go for 1/72, there is a kit from Heritage Aviation (which I believe is based on the old MPM). Good luck!
Cheers! // PolarBear

Hi Bjorn
Thanks for the info and the wonderfull photo Bjorn. I have the IPMS Stockholm on my favorites and there is good coverage of the Swedish Pr XlX. The link for converting existing kits into a Pr XlX is very helpfull. I will follow your suggestion and use Academy's 1/48 Spit Mk XlV, but scratch build the props, spinner and other bits and bobs.

Hi all
Well with AussieReg and Almonkey signing up that pushes the number of enlistees to 10.
Like AussieReg I have no Spits in my stash although a did about nine of them, one after another when I came back to the hobby three years ago. Thanks to everyone for the support so far.

Hi Tim,
Okay, I've decided to back a bit and do a 1/48 scale Mk I. I just finished watching my copy of the Battle of Britain, and, in keeping with my reading interests I am going to do Spitfire Mk I X4227, 603 Sqdn, September 1940 Flown by Pilot Officer Richard Hillary who wrote "The Last Enemy". Now I need to see what is available for after market goodies! Watch out Eduard and Ultracast- here I come

Hi Bruce
An excellent choice of mount of an interesting character. Fought in the Battle of Britian, shot down over the North Sea suffering terrible burns, requiring plastic surgery and becoming one of Archibald McIndoe guinea pigs. He was killed when his Blenheim V bomber crashed in the early hours of the morning near Berwick, just two months after being declared fit to fly. Have you read his book Bruce?
