Hi all!
Long time no see!
My name is Björn and I'm a polystyreneoholic. It's been exactly one year since I last finished a model...
It's about time to get back in the saddle. I intend to give this little birdie a go!
I'm going with the Kinetic 1/48 F-16I Sufa, some aftermarket parts (Aires cockpit and Eduard PE) and an all-Israeli weapon load from Skunk Works. I hope to be able to start immediately after the weekend!
Truly looking foward to this campaign!
Cheers! // PolarBear

I worked on the F-16 during the FSD program. Looking at this version, I can't decide if it's badass or just bad.

I'm still trying to decide on a kit. I can get the Academy and Tamiya kits locally, although the Tamiya kit is much more expensive. Both in 1/48. Any opinions?

Hi Russ,
For me the Tamiya kit is fantastic, I built one last year and it was my first Jet, no problems with the fit at all and the detail is great. I have not seen an Academy kit so I cannot compare.

I've never done an F-16, I've never even liked it but it sort of has started to grow on me during the last few years. I have an old Fujimi 1/72 kit (got it in an exchange deal, nothing that I really wanted ) that looks like a simple build, probably in Dutch (1982?) or maybe Norwegian markings! Or I might join PolarBear with an Israeli one... Anyway, 1/72 is for sure at least!
Polar bear! Nice to have you back!

Thanks guys!
When going through the box, it seems that I'm missing the building instructions!! I might have misplaced them when drooling over them some time ago (could perhaps be in our summer cottage?). Now what to do? Either do the "manly" thing and proceed without instructions, or try to get some new...
If anyone has the instructions for the Kinetic 1/48 F-16I Sufa, please give me a ping!
In the meantime, I will proceed with the ordnance and the Aires cockpit!
Mark: The early F-16:s are truly badass, albeit in a adolescent kind of way. The Fighting Falcon has since grown to become a full grown thug - both with regard to design and capability. I love the early F-16:s, and hope to build an F-16A Netz in the future.

I checked what I have in the stash yesterday and came up with two kits and a few decal sheets.
The kits are the old Fujimi F-16A+ with Norwegian decals and a Revell Block 50/52.
Decals are mainly old Modeldecal sheets with different European options (the Dutch and Belgian ones are the most colourful and interesting!) from the early eighties, I also have an Isradecal sheet for the F-16 C/D.
A quick look in the boxes indicates that between the two kits there will probably be parts enough to do a very early F-16A (with small tailplanes and fin from the Revell kit) and an Israeli one (Block 40?) before they got the big spine.
This could be great fun !

If it counts as progress: since my last post I've spent some money on this project. Since I had the kits and the decals I had to figure out something else to go shopping for in order to keep the cashflow in our hobby running ! So some of my monthly hobby allowance has ended up in the pockets of IsraDecal (books) and Daco (even more books)!

If it counts as progress - I have received a copy of the building instructions for the Sufa! I will not be able to post any pictures for a couple of weeks, since I'm going into the busy season at work. Come May, I will be able to spend more time (hopefully)...

The books from IsraDecal arrived two days ago. One of them was about the Sufa. I never should have bought the book since I have now ordered a Hasegawa Sufa in 1/72 with cockpit and exhaust from Aires. And decals from IsraDecal.
I just took one look on page one that shows one of those evil-looking birds (with the CFTs, the big square spine and all those lumps and bumps) looking at you and realised that this is a must-have!
As usual, I know I shouldn't (have done it...)

Hi all,
I will be building a Hasegawa F2B with Afterburner anniversary decals for this campaign. I opened the box a couple of days ago and started to clean up the intake area. Pics will follow.
Cheers

Since I'm almost certainly in too many campaigns as it is, I might as well join this one too ;-)
Up for consideration is a Revell F-16MLu in 1/72nd. Markings are for the Belgian 31 Squadron Tigermeet bird from 2009.

Assembly will start as soon as I'm done one of my other builds. Ie most probably next weekend.
