More progress on my 109F-4.

The yellows and whites were masked off and the entire model was painted with RLM 79 and RLM 78.





Then I started to fade and weather the paint.






The fading and weathering was done for RLM 78, RLM 04 and the white color as well.






It's time to paint RLM 02 areas, namely the interior of the flaps, landing gear doors and the landing gear bay. Then I will spray some gloss coat to prepare the model for the decals.

Mere, I agree with Mike. Very nice weathering. Do you whether with oils or is it airbrushed?

A little more progress on my old Fujimi Bf 110C. A very enjoyable build so far.

The lifecolor range of RLM is very good in my opinion. They spray well and are easy to clean. In this case the RLM 70 and 71 captures the look of these two similar, yet distinct colors very well. Not that I am "religious" about color shades as weathering and wartime conditions would create many shades of the same color anyway. However, they look better than others in my humble opinion.

Thank you Mike and Jesper. The effects are all airbrushed at this stage. I will also try to enhance the weathering effects using oils after I apply a gloss coat and decals. The only problem is the spring weather in Istanbul. It seems better to go on a motorbike trip in the sun compared to staying home and working at the bench

Hi everyone!

I may be speaking to soon but I think I just might make the deadline for this great campaign. I finished up the decal steps for the Woody Woodpecker B767. This took a lot longer than I expected as I needed to slowly add small pieces of the coroguard gray decal to get around the various flap gear housings on the bottom of the wing. I also completed the different detail decals like the window outlines separately as they were laying on top of each other.

Here is how the B767 looks tonight after some cleaning up:





I also need to do a little touch up painting to cover some scratches and flaws that I did not notice earlier. I'll let this dry for a week, then put a protective coat on the kit and add the detail parts. It is a little too large to try and spray a gloss coat on one go so I may simply apply a modeling wax to protect the decals.

A little more progress on my Bf 110. The decals are now on. The 20 year old Fujimi decals worked like a charm and fit great with the Kagero decals.
The only problem is the white areas. They are pure white on the kagero decals and dirty white on the Fujimi decals. I will try to blend it a little during weathering.
The cartoon is small, but very cool. An eagle chasing a lion. I wished it was larger.

That is a really cool cartoon with the Eagle and Lion. I had never seen those markings before. Great choice!
I see what you mean about the difference in the two colors of white. I think your idea of weathering the model should work in making these look close to one another. I have seen where a very light overspray of a light color (maybe very diluted tan?) was used to bring decals that were too bright and new looking to resemble the rest of the decals and paint job.

Thanks for the comments and the tips. I might tone it down with tan or a bleached bone color.

I happened to read to chronicles of JG 26 yesterday. I noticed that some of the Me 109Es in the book had more toned down white in the national markings compared to the aircraft codes. I might just leave it as it is.

Here is a update on my build.

Richard, Got to love that aggressive lives of the Sabre. Looking forward to see more.

I have finished my BF 110C for this campaign. It is the old Fujimi 1/48 kit. It goes together very well and although it lacks the detail of the Eduard offering the Fujimi kit captures the look of the Bf 110 very well and it is a fun build.
