Yesterday I finished my Ki-46, so another campaign is done for me. I think it's my 11th finished so far
This is just a little preview, more and better photos soon in the gallery and my assembly line thread ....
I'm not so happy with the fitting of the rear canopy but I can live with it. The decals seemed to be a bit older because they were brittle and cracked. The 37 mm cannon broke off while I was masking the underside but got it back from the carpet monster ....

Torsten I love the showroom finish on all your builds. Weathering is great but it's a crutch as much as it is an art. (one I lean on heavily)
Anyway.
Green. The airfix box (and elsewhere) always indicate IJN green as much brighter and tealer than this (tamiya pre-mix). But I do believe the tamiya shade to be much nearer the truth.
I'd love to know where airfix got the notion that the canopy panes had radiused corners.
I ended up cutting a kabuki mask for this. I tried silly putty first but it doesn't work so well at this scale.

The squiggly line where the IJN Green meets IJN Grey/Green along the rear fuselage.

Torsten, that is a lovely clean model, of a what is a very attractive plane - all those sexy curves!
You need to add your finished pics to the campaign gallery though (first one to finish too!)

Nice work! Torsten, you must be the first across the finish line?
Some further work done...
Richard! I'll donate my spare Frank (or, if I was Steve Martin, "Fronk"..) canopy from Falcon to you. Contact me via mail or PM with your postal address and I'll put it in the mail across the Atlantic!
Build blog is here.

I worked on it a little more. I am utterly green to the Japanese aircraft and trying to learn about how to build them. Greens are confusing me to be honest. I found the Model Master IJA/N Green to be a little bit too green so I went with Humbrol 75 to start with on this one and I weathered it gradually by adding Humbrol 86 to the mixture and kept on adding in each coat.
Thank god now I have two Sprites, one of them a total Frankenstein, so I can use the base colour too witout feeling the need to clean it first:}
Then I exgerated a little but I think it looks fine for now.
Next stop painting the rest of the details and inside the gear bays, decals and chiping...but that is another story...

Hi guys, I need a little help here. Does anyone know about Shiden Kai exhausts? I can identify the ones on sides but there are a couple of objects on the underside, are they pipes or not? Anyone? Oh I hate building aircraft I am not familiar with....

Well It's been quite a while since I have had the time to do anything on this little kit, but I managed a few hours the other night, and here are just a few photos.
The tail wheel was reworked to look a little better, adn the inside is almost done and soon to be buttoned up.
And the other side.
And here is the final instrument panel.
Hopefully I will be able to have more time available in the very near future, so I can start doing much more regular updates.

Richard! The best of two worlds for me then: I get to be the good guy without having to send the canopy ! I'm glad you found one, if you mess things up PM me!
As for the rest of the builds: good work!
New exhaust pipes...

Cooper is that styrene for the ribs and formers?
Magnus you're a gentleman and a scholar and there ain't many of us left.
Post shading looks a bit grotesque under the flash right now. Better in reality.

No photos but subassemblies are working their way through. More importantly though I masked and sprayed all the hinomarus. Mal they're glorious. Nothing can compete with painted-on. I will post photos soon as I can.

Richard!
I like that Zero of yours a lot! Better go for more contrast than less, it is always easier to tone things down than the other way around. Apart from that: I like contrasts!

Decals still wet in this pic. If they settle it'll be a simple matter of fading, Chipping and staining tomorrow and I'll be done. Don't think the Frank is going to make it though... Some lingering issues there.

Your being too critical on yourself, Richard. The only issues I'm seeing in the photos are slight decal solution stains where there are decals, and those should disappear with a gentle dull coat application.
I think the model looks wonderful. Very well done; Frank is a success.
