seen 1/48th scale kits with less detail and parts than this puppy.
Si
Cool Kit Si - on the other hand, I have seen 1/144 scale kits with more detail and double the parts of this one!
There appears to be no cockpit detail whatsoever, and .... ugh ... raised panel lines!
Also, the decals are shot - I'm going to have to do something about it.
Cheers Everybody!

Welcome Lee & Richard.
Richard not sure about roundel maybe Edgar could fill us in?
I lived near Duxford so any craft with decals from there is on my radar to build.
Lee, my aircadet instructor was a Hunter pilot.

This seems very strange as the RAF used 'A' type roundels with the 3 colour rings in 1938. This picture shows a 19 Sqn aircraft in 1938

It is strange. The squadron definitely was using type b. I think that they switched during the Munich crisis?? Just can't find photos of the upper and lower surfaces.

I have been contemplating this for a long time and had intended to build it as a 74sqn desert camo version as the kit contains the desert filter. However, following the release of the 1/48 Airfix Spit Vb and the Alley Cat Vc wing conversion this has gone away.
I have yet to decide on the final scheme but I have decided to enhance the kit by using Eduard belts, Master cannon and Airscale instruments
You can see the bagged kit in the background. I shall be using the Haynes guide and Gerald Scarborough's book on building the Airfix 1/24 Spitfire written when the kit was a Mk 1.
Does anyone know of any 1/24 wheels for this kit as they are the bl##dy awful 'vinyl' type.

I didn't think this started until January 01/15, but, since everyone else is making a play, here's the pictures:
And after shamelessly begging to our great leader because the kit decals are just fine, I hope to do this scheme:
All-in-all, I've bitten off way more than I can chew with what's all on the bench; but, as I say, you only live once, so you may as well live in excess.

The only start I have made has been to photograph the box and additions. This builder DOES stick to the rules

It's okay I clearly disqualified myself. Fortunately I have a backup airfix kit. So I may win a medal here yet.

I wouldn't call it disqualified. I'd call it a brave warrior who couldn't wait to get into the fight. Like 'Sugar Ray'.
Nothing wrong with that.

I built my entry many years ago after a school trip to a RAF base in East Anglia ,the Dominie that we went around was set up as a navigation trainer.
Here is my entry:-
I will try out my new laser printer to make the decals.

Slightly confused... Should I be? I was expecting the official thread to be under General Modeling on Kitmaker, but it's on Aeroscale as an air campaign...

Here is my Airfix III entry; the Southern Railway (British Railway)Battle of Britain Class Biggin Hill. The kit is a former Kitmaster, Airfix now Dapol model.
Proudly made in Lower Dee Mill, Llangollen, Clwyd, UK.

We have a new leader this time around, and he's chosen to host the thread here. But that doesn't mean that only aircraft are allowed. All subjects are definitely welcome. Who knows, maybe more of us wingy thingy builders will get infected by the other genres
