Had purchased this kit for the campaign when it was in the discussion phase, but work has been all consuming. So not much time now and I had dropped out, but maybe a let up at work has given me an opportunity to maybe join in:

Bob: It'll be interesting to see how the two Airfix Hurris stack up against each other!
Peter: Very nice work so far!

Michael, watch out for the wing / fuse attachment, my dihedral disappeared.
The wing looks flat.

Bob,
Are you talking about your kit (the earlier release) or the new one? You certainly are moving on yours, I just got the base interior painting done!

Pete: your 109 is looking good. Thanks for the kind words, but the photos done show exactly that it is a dog of a kit.
Michael: I will be waiting for your photos to see the difference in the kits, I am on vacation plus the kits simple make up is the only reason I am this far in the build.

Some interior work on the new Airfix 1/48 Hurricane:

Here's the instrument panel with the kit decal on it and my attempt to use a clear coat for the individual instruments:

I've build several Hurricanes before (though not the new Italeri kit) and I've got to say this is quite the detailed cockpit. The harness is Eduard but everything else is out of the box. It's a little fiddly, but comes together nicely.

That instrument panel looks great! I've always been more of a cockpit ingnorer in the past. Now I have something else to strive for.

Some more progress on the new Airfix 1/48 Hurricane. No significant fit issues so far!
All the shots of the fuselage/wings closed up are without glue. I haven't seen any of the fit pitfalls around the nose I've heard about.
Michael
A great looking kit, Michael!

I am a BIG fan of Airfix's retooled 1/72 aircraft (most of which have now found their way into the stash and then workbench) and I'm hoping they re-tool their 1/24 range now that most of the 1/48 range has been re-tooled.
I don't normally stray outside of 1/72, but would make an exception for the 1/24 range if retooled... Already got the Tiffy in the stash!

Ok, I actually started my build last weekend. But haven't got around to taking pics yet, till now.
The Dotted line shows how much of the lower fuselage I cut then reattached to get rid of the banana effect.
Most of the interior is scratch the pilots seat is from the parts box and PE is Eduard and afterburner. Of course like most people since this is the HobbyCraft kit I raise the pilot platform and seat so he is not looking out through nose.
I cut out lower entry hatch and will make a ladder for it and have it open.
I am getting close to completing the cockpit area. Still need work on gondola gunner pad, seat and rigging. and wiring all around maybe.

Nice build, Pete. A very nice Emil.
I will probably join with an Emil as well. I will go hunting in the stash.

Robert,
I hate to say this, especially as you're so far along, but this is a Battle of Britain campaign and is limited to that period (summer/fall 1940). The Spit V, and particularly Sailor Malan's from that box, is from later in the war (late '41-'42?) so it doesn't fit the guidelines. Malan was flying a Mk.I with 74 Squadron in the BoB.
