Michael thanks for pointing that out, I was so eager to do that build that I went into it without doing any research .
I do have an Airfix Spitfire I/II but I don't know if time is going to catch up with me(plenty of active campaigns).
I'll stay in for now to keep the option open.

@ Richard: I had built that kit for the HAIRY STICK campaign and was pleased with the construction and the final outcome so I will look forward to your photos.

QUESTION: I have prepped my Airfix Hurri for paint, but have a dilemma. I am using the kits scheme for the No. 32 Squadron. I have Tamiya XF21 and Humbrol 90 for the undersurfaces. Which should be used I cannot make up my mind.

Ok, I finally finished the interior.
Bombsite and other things scratch built.
I am trying to take some pics a little closer like some of you guys how you get a detail pic.
I am getting better. But I think when I resize them down the get less definition

does the new tool Hurricane include the arrestor hook or only the lower fuselage housing for it? I am hoping to be able to build one into an early Sea Hurricane.

It has the hook too, as well as the spools for the MAC catapult IIRC. I see further boxings on the horizon, but if you have the decals the parts are there.

Excellent! Yet another reason to pick one up. I do indeed have decals for her, Aeromaster's Sea Hurricanes at War. Everything I have seen of this kit gives me the impression Airfix have produced a real gem.

Jeff: nice work on the interior, I cannot wait to see paint on this a/c.

I had a little time to try to fix my a/b and painted the undersurface of the Hurricane.

Here is where I am at now.
I built the engines and added plumbing to them.
I filled in the Engine Cowl flaps as the 17z did not have individual sections for the cowl.
I put the wings on and filled and sanded the seams.
No for the rest of the wheel wells and landing gear.



I am still debating, even though the wings are together should I cut and redo the flaps?
Just thinking since it will be on its wheels and every pic I see of DO-17s have the flap sag.

I've put off starting in the knowledge that this bundle of samples designed for Airfix's new Spitfire Mk.I was inbound for Review:



I think the best way to see how they look is a dual-build for comparison, so I'll do one Spit basically OOB and the other with the goodies thrown at it:



Due to a heavy period ahead at work, it'll probably be a week or so before I can get much done.

Well, I just tried preshading with a marker for the first time on my 1/72 Typhoon for the Airfix III Campaign and it went so quick that I went ahead and did the Hurri as well!





Still can't draw a straight like though.

Hi Michael

Please let us know how the marker works out. I have read on other sites that the marker pulls through the paint. I would be interested because it is quicker and alot less hassle than using the airbrush each time.

Rob,

I applied the marker using a Sharpie Industrial Super Permanent Ink a week ago and painted Sky using Tamiya acrylic about 6 hours ago and so far, no bleed through. We'll see how it looks tomorrow.

Afraid I'm going to have to drop out of this campaign and possibly a few others.
Long story short, the inevitable has happened and we have bought a house. A house that will need a lot of work and money to make it liveable. I don't really want to be making start on something large like the Dornier in case something breaks or gets lost during the move. Best to keep it boxed till then. Exciting times but it's going to mean I'll have little time at the workbench for the next couple of months.
On the plus side, I've got a room to myself for all my crap and I'm hoping to set aside an area for airbrushing and the like.
Plus I'll also be a 10 minute walk away from quite a well stocked model shop! That had little to do with choosing the house. Honest

And good luck! I know the feeling. I have totally redone 3 homes before moving in. Floors, Walls, cabinets you name it. 2 were complete remodels on a 1/1 scale

But I tell you, Nothing like having your own private office for working. This house I have has finally got that setup for me.........

I don't have the time to participate, but if I did I'd build a DH Tiger Moth as fitted with bombs as part of Operation Banquet.

Thanks for the support and understanding. Hopefully by the end of summer we'll be done and I can get back to a few projects. I do have a Hobbyboss Me109 which will work as a quick build for this campaign if indeed I do get time.

I managed to finally do a bit of basic prep on the Spits today. The "Eduard" one will be flaps-down - even though that's seldom seen in photos. I'd better dig out one of the new RAF ground crew to go with it doing an inspection.

I'm using Tamiya paints exclusively and so far no bleed through of the marker pre-shading (the underside was painted a couple of weeks ago.)
