Hi Nicolas,
The Comet is one that Airfix so very desperately needs to drag kicking and screaming into the 21st Century! Whirlybits does a cockpit set which can help to cure the worst bits of your model. The rest of it can be cured by a little bit of "Some modeling skills required".

Mike, you have some extra room above the nose wheel well to add more weight if necessary. I'd suggest that you tape it all together and test before closing up

Hi all,

i found in the internet what could be very very helpfull for any scratchbuilder !!!






I think this will be very usefull for me !

So i began the surgery, i removed the uggly heads :



Then i added little blocks to support the cockpit floor, cut the floor in a styren sheet and checked it fits......it does ... but the nose would need some work, anyway i planed to remove it to be replaced with transparent bunch (is that the good word ?):








Then i looked in my stach and wreckages for seats and found just two which needed some work too....so i did ... :





Blocks were needed here too as the seats have to be tilted a little. I checked and the angles are the same without the Patafix:




So here is where i am,

Nice work Nico, but your troubles are just beginning, I built all three colours for the MacPherson Air Race aircraft, all the kits were different, all had MAJOR issues including short shots, ejector pin marks (big pits actually) canopy fit issues, the tail plane on one side of my Grosvenor House didn't fit, Ok on the others. Please Airfix (or someone) issue a GOOD one, I'd buy it!

Thanks a lot Andrew......i will try not to give up....i made some tries and but for the wings/fuselage junction, i did not saw big problems.....but i did not look at the engines yet....i'm a little scared now....

I plan on building this E&B Valley Osgood Bradley Coach but will strip the factory applied paint and re-letter it for the New Haven Railroad.

Jessica: 1957 ? Wow, i did not notice that it was a so venerable kit !!! I'll keep it in my mind to treat it with all the respect it deserves so !!!

Ian: i don't get Ryobi tools (but after a check on google i thought i maybe would have better put some on my Christmas list !)but i hope my little ones would be sufficient !

And so, here is my latest update on my old plane...

I continued to add some details on the cockpit, i used that pic (of a restored one) and decided to scratch the 3 faces block (above the compass) :




I also scratched the "undercarriage wheel", it would be thicker than the model but, well, almost invisible so it'll be good enough !








I began the rear instrument panel, with the help of this plan :






And finally i began the left side, on which i'll just have to add the throttle commands

Here I continue with the hood,

Here's a quick update on my NASA F-8C. The cockpit is now painted up and the fuselage glued together. As I will have the canopy down, I wanted to slightly exaggerate the cockpit details so the cockpit does not look like a black hole. So far, so good!

One of the great side benefits of the holiday season is that I have been able to squeeze out some decent time at my model bench. One of the results has been a little progress on my NASA Crusader. I have the wings and fins (stabilizers?) added to the underside of the model. I am now working on filling the seams that have resulted in the wings and underside. It is motivating now that it actually looks like a Crusader!
