I signed up for this fun campaign, so I might as well start my build! I always try and do something a little bit different for a campaign. I will be working on a 1/48 Cessna 172 flown by Ethiopian Airlines. They have (had) a fleet of these aircraft that not only operated from rough fields but also the major airports in Ethiopia. The kit is the Minicraft Cessna 172 with the decals from Draw Decals.
With a few other models further along in the build process, my build will be stretched out a bit. Time to have fun modeling!

that's a wonderful topic Mike. I was just looking through the Draw decals catalog last night, so many great ideas for models.
i have this pair of Minicraft 1/144 Electras.
These join the two kits i am building in the Vacuform campaign, to form a meta-project of L-188s
Inexplicably, there is a C-54 kit in one of the boxes. I suppose I should build it as well.
maybe something with some dayglow orange on it

Hi Jonathan
Building an Electra or two for this Campaign is cool! I like the looks of the Electra (so many schemes) but have never built one. I have a few Minicraft kits in my stash so I'll be enjoying your build!
Have fun modeling

I've made a start on the Minicraft Electras
wings in three parts, fuselage halves match nicely, alignment pins that work, no flash whatsoever. so far so good.

I'm planning a kind of follow-on to last year's crazy Lancaster build and I suspect I'll need to use every bit of the six months of the campaign
Plenty scratchbuilding and going way past my comfort zone again !
Oh - and it wont be a gunship but a paratroop carrier. Perhaps D-Day, perhaps Market Garden.... yet to make a clear plan of action yet.

Hello everybody!
These are really some nice kits over here. I found the old Italeri Junkers Ju52/3m for this campaign. I will build it as a plane of the Lufthanse, but some changes have to be done to the original kit!

This campaign will be full of C-47/DC-3 variants.
I'll start with one too in a few weeks time.

Considering it's been a long serving workhorse in many roles it deserves a few entries

True, the DC3 /C-47 is among the worlds most beloved aircraft.
Good to see this campaign heating up!

Great choice! You are much farther along with your Cessna 172 than I am so I'll be following your build with interest! It looks like you have a nice start on the 172. What scheme are you planning to put on the 172? As soon as I get some more done on the interior of my 172, I'll start to post updates.
Have fun modeling!

I was just thinking of this -
Wow, this would be a fantastic diorama! Is this a transport of the Ju 52 D-AQUI?
Bob: Well done start of Your kit. Is it 1/144 scale?

Started with the Ju 52. The passenger cabin it has nicely detailed seats, but the details of the cockpit area are not well done.
This is the instrument panel :
No decal was included!
So, I added some styrene and improved the pilot´s seats, too!
With some color upon it, it came out rather nicely. But, when the fuselage is closed, probably the details will be gone.
Next will be closing the fuselage and beginning the build of the motors.
Have some nice Christmas and Frohe Weihnachten!
