Welcome to the Mediterranean Theater of Operations Campaign! This is the fourth in a series of campaigns that will highlight the different theaters of operations in WWII to remember the 75th anniversary of the war. The CBI, Western Front/ETO, and PTO Campaigns are already complete.

This campaign will run from 1 June through 17 December, 2018.

If you haven't signed up yet, or want to see the rules, go here.

Please post your initial and in-progress photos as well as campaign discussion in this thread. Please post your finished build photos in the campaign gallery.

Looking forward to the builds from the war in the Med!

I was looking forward to this (rubbing hands together)!
I decided for Airfix 1/48 Ju-87 R/2 with Italian markings.
I need to clear my bench first of at least one of the ongoing builds...

I'll be stalking you until then...

Cheers!

LOL, I still am working on my entry from the old Club Med campaign a few years back. Stuck on trying to duplicate a Malta blue spitfire. This is where it has been stuck. So far all test attempts just are not looking right to me. Oh the AMS.

Cheers

Uf Da. I'm still struggling on the Pax and Pallets and now this one. Pretty sure I'm going to try a Condor A-36 Apache or was it an F-6 Mustang?????

Great. I’ve been getting my bench in order in preparation of this campaign and barring work and life commitments, I’m ready to go, as evidenced by my painting samples below.

My self-imposed goals for this build are, in no particular order; complete it (duh), learn a bit about soldering for the PE parts and free hand airbrush the smoke rings/little snakes on the wings and fuselage (probably the most challenging and time-consuming part for me).

Time to have at it.

I also have the Folgore in stash, so looking forward how it turns out.

I'm building Eduard's B-24D. It's Academy Liberator plastic parts with PE and decals by Eduard:

I'll build the desert yellow B-24 on cover, or then the OD one shown in instructions. Both were in Italy 1944. Probably the desert camouflage, because the sand color suits Liberator.

Pasi, that's going to be a killer! I cannot wait to see how your build goes. Yes, desert camo will suit her just about perfect.

Cheers!

WOW! Some nice looking kits I see and will follow along each.

I found this Itealeri Spitfire Mk. IX kit, and will go with the a/c for Lt. Vic Cabas.

Hello fellow modelers,
These are really great kits You have chosen already.
I joined the former campaigns (ETO, PTO and CBI), so I cannot miss this one. I just searched in my stash an found the Sword kit of a Gladiator stationed on Malta.

Would this one will fit into the MTO campaign?

Seeing as Malta is in the middle of the Mediterranean, I think you're good to go! Welcome!

Oliver, will you be going with the box art color scheme? If so, it looks a little hard from my skills and Ill watch your progress.

Hello, guys!
I had a lot of ideas about what to do in the campaign, and finally I came to the following model.
I will introduce you Sturmpanzer IV (a model of Hobbyboss with catalog number 80135, actually a model of Tristar) from the composition of Sturm.Panz.Abt.216. From February 1944 the battalion fought in Italy, participated in the fights at Anzio-Nettuno.
Here are the initial photos.

Success at all and enjoyable fun.

I have found this Italeri Spitfire is not what I was expecting. There is flash, sink holes, and the plastic is soft. But Ive started the kit.

I think it's based on the Ocidental kit. Oh dear.

But you can do it!

Nice information to know Michael, thanks. I have an Occidental Spitfire Mk. IX that Ive not opened yet. I have several formulas to make Azure Blue, but is there a ready made bottle in acrylic?

Hi all,

I've been so looking forward to this campaign! Now that I've completed my C-47, there will be room to work on this one!

In keeping with my "Big Model Year" theme, I'll be doing Revell's rendition of Monograms venerable B-25J Mitchell.

It will be a pretty much out of the box build, although I plan to use Eduard's canopy masks (a first for me), Bombshell decals and a lot of fishing weights!

I'm planning to do "Ruthie" from the 340th Bombardment Group, 489th Bombardment, flying out of Alesani, Corsica.

John, that's quite an ambitious project for a rather short campaign! Let's see how develops! I'll be following!

Cheers!

Bob I believe there are several "ready mixed" options out there, the one I use is an Aeromaster acrylic, however it's now oop and I'm looking for a replacement when it runs out. I'll let you know what I find.

It's the Condor 1/72 A-36.

Going to build it as 42-83830 of the 86th Fighter Bomber Groupin Algeria.
The kit pilot's seat went missing so I ended up with the CMK detail set.

She's a bit of a hanger queen, I think I got it started for a Dive Bomber campaign when I noticed the seat was missing. Maybe I'll finish it this time.

I'm in with a Tunisian "Tiger"...and not what you think.

I was going to build it for a different campaign but decided to go with a different kit for that one. I'll probably start on it tomorrow and do my first update when I get enough pics to show.

Chris, thanks for the link. I just ordered a bottle.

Mark, I am not familiar with Condor kits. Where do they hail from?
