In answer to your question, Phil: no, the Hurricane did not have a cockpit "floor". You could see right though the framework to the top of the landing gear bay.
Michael
WOW! I bet that was a trip on take off.
My Tamiya Bf109 E3 just arrived along with a Hobby Craft Bf109 E1.
After a look inside the box Ill be able to determine which I will go with for this campaign.

Not great pics, but showing some progress on my two hurricanes. The pilots are painted and glued into the fuselage. Dry fit of the two fuselage halves show a very nice fit.
Still struggling with the leading edge of the wings....

I couldn't help but enlist. Now I need to decide what I'll build.
I've a Dragon 1/48 Me-110 D with Dacklebauch that I might make into a C if the parts allow.
I have an ICM 1/48 Dornier Do-17.
Also a Dragon 1/32 Bf 109E4...
And maybe something else... I'll have to scour my stash for other potential victims.

Gary! I would love to see that Dornier built. And it is said to be a marvelous kit!

Ok Magnus... you've talked me into it. I just ordered brass Mg-15 barrels from Hannants. Luftwaffe planes don;t look correct the the machine guns don't have the ring sites.

Hi All,
Here's my entry for this one! Monogram's 1/48 He-111. It came with a nice resin cockpit, though not sure it's really needed. I'll work on it!
I'll do this most likely as a night blitzer...we'll see!

John, nice catch. I have had that kit twice in my life time, cut never built it. I will watch your progress with interest.
Still waiting for the canopy mask so I could start painting.

The HE-111 is great. I can't wait to see it. I stalled earlier this year on an Airfix HE-111 (1/72). I was a bit overambitious I think. I bought the P-2 kit and the H-6 kit with the intention of bringing the H-6 back to an earlier H appropriate for the battle of Britain. The main thing would be to take spinners from the P kit and put them on the H, iirc. It would also need some bashing on the exhaust. I got all the stuff to make copies of the parts from the P kit (I wanted to do the P kit also) and just stalled there.
As to my builds. No pics but they just got their primer coat on them. There was a fair bit of filling - the front of the wings were quite a bit of work, and below the fuselage where the wings join the fuselage took some coaxing. The air intake (?) below the wing is a multipart assembly that doesn't fit that well, so it needed sanding and filling to. But, that's all done, and it's painting time!
Hopefully I'll have pics posted of the painting done by the weekend.

Raul, thank your for your kind words.
Your cockpit looks really good. Is it OOB or did you add after market items?

Greetings everyone,
I have been thinking about this air campaign for a while but I decided to learn a bit more about the Battle of Britain first. Despite of living for over 13 years in Britain I didn't know that much about it and I am finding it fascinating.
Anyway, I am joining with the Hurricane Mk.I from Arma Hobby in 1/72.

Okay, I have started my 1/35th scale AFV Club British 40mm Bofors for the build. Start pic - forgot to post that last week:
And where I am at:
A lot smaller model than I am used to, but you 1/72nd scale fighter guys will probably laugh at that comment... this is probably a tad bigger than one of those.
I'll have to modify this kit to back date it to 1939 specs as AFV Club intended to have the Stiffkey sights fitted to this kit - those sights were not introduced until 1943. Fortunately, the AFV Club etch fret includes earlier sight rings, it has the manual drive components I need as well as electronic drive parts, and the kit has elements of the German version which even has the earliest reflector sights with it although the were discarded by the English early on.
In case anyone is interested, AFV Clubs box art shows the Barrel lock device raised which is incorrect when the gun is mounted on its pads like in the pic. The axle mounts on the Bofors carriage swivel to raise and lower the wheels for travel or placement, and the travel lock moves with them. The correct position when on the pads is in the horizontal plane not vertical plane:
Note also the ring sights and mount here and lack of shields, which were also a mid war addition like the Stiffkey sights.

Wow, that looks like the old ,80's casting approach - huge pour plug so it can be demoulded quickly, as opposed to a side pour which would have to be in the mould longer to cure without warping...
I hope you did not breathe in the dust Michael, it must have been a cloud and a half!
