Wayne, I am really glad you got some more time in and were able to wrap up the t-bolt. I look forward to your pictures.
Now that my martlet is done, I am hoping to start to plug away at both my corsair and thunderbolt, so hopefully, I will have a little more progress to share soon. Looking it over, I am at the stage of the major building - glueing, seam work, etc.
I hope all is well. What's up next??

Wayne,,finally youve been able to wade through the snow ............
Yes it was quite a harrowing experience let me tell you. ....Wading through 10 foot snow......, for 10 miles......, 50 degrees below zero...., backwards...., barefoot...., with no coat .... uphill .... whew!! I'm only halfway to the garage. bear with me.... :-) :-) :-) :-)
It sure felt good to get my jug done. It sucks for I just don't have the area inside to work with my models. So when winter comes around and gets to the freezing mark I just have to give up on things for a while. I have tried a few different heaters but just havn't found me anything yet that really keeps me good and warm in the garage and thaws out the compressor for my airbrush
It does give me a lot of time for research and getting all the PE extras and stuff for my next projects tho.. so there is a small side benefit to it
I'm glad to see there is still some interest and progress on the P-47's. Excellent. Keep em' flying and I will really try to get some pics of mine posted in here before too much longer.
Good modeling,
Wayne

FINALLY !!!! I have my Georgia Peach II P-47 done and here are the pics to prove it. YAY!!!!!
I don't have a good enough picture that I like yet to enter into the MOQ but that I will keep trying for.
All in all I think everything came out pretty well and the damage to the decals/markings are on purpose.
I have to admit to one case of total stupidity on my part so others can learn from my mistake. After I got the alclad finish done, future wash, decals and then future over the decals,..everything looked SOOOOO good....but I didn't like the extra super shiny finish. So I thought, hmmmmmmmm, all I have to do is spray it with my flat laquer finish and tone down the shine of the future.
That was the dumbest thing I ever did. After the laquer set up it reacted with the alclad and there were various large and small spots all over the wings and body that turned back into the black that was painted underneath the alclad.
It wouldn't have been quite so bad if I didn't all ready have the decals on. But since I did, I had to very carefully mask over the top of all the decals in the infected areas and repaint the alclad over the top of the bad areas. In a way it worked kind of neat for around some of the vents smaller areas it gives the finish a great rusted/wash look to it. But there is no way I would recommend anyone doing this on purpose for the end result of spraying flat laquer over the alclad is totally unpredictable.
My first big lesson learned: From now on I don't think I am going to future over the top of alclad. It works great if you do want that super shiny look but it is just too shiny for my taste.
I should have taken some pics after I sprayed with the laquer but I was so mad at myself and embarrased at my stupidity at the time. I just wanted to get it fixed.
Well here are the pics and let me know what you all think, good or bad.

WOW! Wayne. She looks ready to soar! I think your bare metal finish looks terrific. I'm bookmarking this for when I get around to trying my hand at it.

Looks really nice Wayne. I, too, really like the end look of the BMF; really nice effect. Makes me want to pull mine out again...

Nicely Done I just hope mine turns out just as well
However I need a little help
I'm using Superscale's decals for the P-47D of 73rd FS 318th FG "Easy's Angles" with the nose art "Jeanie" (Sheet No 48-684) and the colours say that the aircraft is NMF with the front half of the cowl black and the second half red, the nose art has a red dress (surely she'd blend in with the cowl?) and the tail has a black band.
I also have decals that came with a Hasegawa 1/72 P-47 for the same aircraf but it says the aircraft is NMF with the front half of the cowl red, the nose art dress is blue and the tail band is red.
Does anyone know which one is correct or know of any sites where I can gleem some information as I've spent the last few days (at work) trawling the internet and came up with nothing.

Thanks everyone
David - glad this thread will be of some use for you later on when you try the metal finish. NMF is a lot of fun and once you try it you will be hooked like the rest of us are now
Leon - I was hoping you might get back to you Thunderbolt. You all ready had a good start on it and it was looking great so far
Allen - My very limited research wasn't able to come up with any answers for your camo question. And you are right too... I tried searching around on the internet quite a bit but had no luck at all in finding any specific info about your question.
You would probably do good to start a separate thread asking that question. There are a some here that I am sure could probably answer your question very easily for you but they might not look in this thread to see it.
Thanks again and good modeling,
Wayne

SWEET BUILD Wayne!!!
Glad its finally come in from the storms!
I guess the "cock up" has worked out to your advantage in many respects.
Just makes me more eager to make a start on my next P47!!!,,no NMF for me this time,,,,,,down and dirty is the name of the game!
Looking forward to seeing how it does in MOQ!
That is going to be SUCH a hard competition to pick a favourite!
