Is it safe to come out yet? Is Terri calmed down ?
Damian, apologies, mate, for not replying sooner. Been gone on a couple of trips and just saw your reply. Very glad no major wildfires! I've seen the ones in years past down there on the news. Unbelievable...
I do like Terri's Brian Setzer Orchestra In The Mood idea. They're a rockin' band. Billy idol has some good tunes, too.

In honour of today's auspicious date, this evening's dinner is presented to you in Scots style.
Menu:
Haggis
Tatties
Bashed Neeps
Single Malt
Now we'll have the piper pipe in the haggis.
And recite the Address.
Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.
The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o' need,
While thro' your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.
His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An' cut you up wi' ready sleight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like ony ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!
Then, horn for horn,
they stretch an' strive:
Deil tak the hindmost! on they drive,
Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve,
Are bent lyke drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
"Bethankit!" 'hums.
Is there that owre his French ragout
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad mak her spew
Wi' perfect sconner,
Looks down wi' sneering, scornfu' view
On sic a dinner?
Poor devil! see him ower his trash,
As feckless as a wither'd rash,
His spindle shank, a guid whip-lash,
His nieve a nit;
Thro' bloody flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!
But mark the Rustic, haggis fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread.
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He'll mak it whissle;
An' legs an' arms, an' heads will sned,
Like taps o' thrissle.
Ye Pow'rs wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer,
Gie her a haggis!
More single malt will be required to ensure the haggis stays down...

Well, one Scot told me that most Scottish food was eaten on a dare.

That Scot must never had a full Scottish breakfast in a hotel of my acquaintance in Edinburgh. High in everything tasty and chloresterol filled. And they have an honesty bar:-)--< almost as good as this place!

Looks like the bars closed, Terri. Guess I'll go home, drink beer, build models, and listen to some LynardSkinner.

Guy you're talkin MY language now mate, but I'm wondering if maybe LynardSkinner might be a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band from the northern region ? I don't care either way. If there's beer and modeling to be had I'll listen to Henry Mancini, or cats being neutered, or bagpipes being tuned up (all of which sound surprisingly similar anyway).
Let's get to it !
Cheers, D

Today's fare is top sirloin hamburgers & hot dogs!
Sweet rellish and dill with mustard. The brats are fresh from the Rhineland shipped in just for us. 110% beef from the processing plant at Sheep mtn in the highlands of Colorado. The buns are also fresh from the cafe ovens.
Green salads and some greek pasta. Potato salad & chips with dressings.
Coffees, soft drinks and teas from Snapple. Bubbling ice cold lemonade and sweet grapes by the bunches.
Dessert is a 3 inch thick chocolate cake with whipped cream icing!
The Movies will be "The Longest Day"
and Kelly's Heroes
Oh and wonderful little dark rum from the Dominican Rep.

Well, we have several interesting and delectable campaigns running right now. "Corsairs" and "What If" are set to end next week, but that still leaves a bunch of other ones to catch your fancy.
Or you could just trawl around the forum and see what other people are building to get ideas, catch enthusiasm or maybe decide not to attempt that one.
Welcome back! Make yourself comfortable and have fun again

We do have a GB going on in the Early Aviation forum, hint, hint! And we have hot crockpots of Western style Stew and another of Texas Chili on the stove here at the cafe. Fresh bread with butter. We have some domestic Coors 8% Beer and some Parkbraü Pilsner 12% in the cooler. Hhhmmm - ah yes, several cream pies(chocolate and lemon).
For breakfast I have some nice cuts of spiral cut, smoked & fried ham with scrambled eggs, mushrooms and cheese. A smattering of hot sauces for your choosing. Cold OJ and of course hot coffee is on - always. Oh yes and some Texas thick cut French toast with blueberry, Strawberry or Peach jam instead of syrup.

Well alrighty then! Friday it is.
More stew & chili are in the crockpots. Similar fare to early in the week from fresh bread to the after dinner coffees. For the films I picked up the movies
Elizabeth
and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
Great history and intrigue surrounding the "Virgin Queen".

Hmm, Bring me another beer. Watched something on History Channel the other night about Elizabeth's secrets. One theory was she was a guy, she actually had a lover (but he was married), she had some sort of disease that gave her extra long fingers, she wasn't embalmed and she and her half sister Mary are buried in the same tomb. Maybe I need another beer, that's an hour of my life I'm not getting back...
