I've never heard of a la-gronme. If you mean a gnome, then no I don't think it is. I'm happy to be proved wrong though.
It is a strutter though. Number of cylinders should be a clue. I knew you'd recognize it Terri.

Hey folks. Anyone know what happened to this thread? It just kind of died away. I think it's time to get the thread moving again. Anyone with me?

Here's an easy one jsut to get the momentum going again. True or false, the US Navy flew SBD-1 Dauntlesses?

Hi Matthew

I think the Marines ordered the SBD-1 - the first Navy version was the SBD-2.

So true Merlin. The Navy did get the first SBD-2s, with the marines getting the -1s first. Now that this thread is moving again, over to you for the next one.

Hi Guys, Sorry for lack of activity. Life happens!

I'm guessing it's Japanese. Am I right?

Graeme.

It looks like a pimped Nakajima 27 Kate, but I have no idea of any name for the trainer version.

Ah. Close but no cigar, you mean? No worries. I'm a pipesmokin' man. However, I can't specify any deeper than that.

Allright. That was a hint with booby-traps!

Since it has Manchurian markings it's not likely to be a KI-27-a Kai, but rather the Manchukuo-made KI-79. Could that summon it up correctly?

Hi again

Yep, that's the one - a Manshū Ki-79 trainer.

Over to you for the next question.

Ok, here we go then.

What plane is this, and what was the oddity about it?

(Those present at Duxford two or three years ago might have seen it)
