Could that be the wingtip of the ME-109T? Looks like the right wing and the splinter camo.

No guesses? Might that be an Aer Lingus airliner in the background?
That should narrow it down a bit

tis indeed. Even my old man hadn't heard of it and he has worked 40 years for Shorts.
Don't get it mixed up with the US military 330 also called sherpa.
It featured isoclinic wingtip to simulate birds. Has the title of the worlds slowest jet
And I doubted the irish could make jets. Sure we just make slow ones. This and the SC-1
The ulster aviation society has just acquired a fuselage and hope to get wings for it.
Would make a great exhibit.
I was going to post some more pics tomorrow but that is an excellent answer Merlin,
Over to you.

Hi JP
Like Kelly, the first web-searches I tried brought up nothing at all! Not even any possible links to pivoting wingtip controls as a theory. It was only after she complained of similar difficulty that I thought I'd try again. The same search took me to a Vickers Valiant page and hence the Sperrin and on to the Sherpa. Weird that it didn't show up the first time...
Anyway, on to the next question. What is this pre-war interceptor?

I always suspected that my search engine didn't like me
Well onward and upward or outward or something

screams hawker to me. Not sure about the engine configuration though. But I'd guess at the Fury Monoplane. Can't find any photos of it so this is just a guess.

Hi JP
Not by Hawker, but you're on the right track - it is a Brit.

Could that just be the De Havilland D.H. 77? Support struts and landing gear seem to match pictures...

Hi Matthew
I know that one - it's one of my favourites and I actually want to scratch-build the b*gger, so I'll stay out of it!

Way to go Jaypee, got that one right away. Sadly, no one does a kit of it, but it would be nice to see. Maybe even a hypothetical Naval one with folded wings?

Sorry, I'd come across it looking for some other boulton paul stuff but immediately recognised it.
Here is something a bit different. What do all these things have in common and which is the odd one out.

Hi JP
I've been planning to build it from the moment I first set eyes on it. Also the Gloster Reaper. One day... one day...

Hi JP
The link is Scottish Aviation. The company built the Bulldog, Jetstream and Scamp electric car, but only did maintenance and conversion work on the Liberator - so I think that's the odd one out.

Hi JP
I'd never heard of the Scamp before. A bright idea, but maybe 40 years ahead of its time - even if it had worked better.
Inspired by your question, what's the link between these aircraft?

I'm dying to answer this question but I don't have another question lined up and I'd hate to stall the thread...
