Well here it is folks 100 replies 3 months left and 22 dedicated members at this writing. Some with multiple builds. Now yours truely steps up to the plate. I will maintain a build blog so I am providing a link to the job.
A bit out of the usual for me but it is a high wing monoplane. "Parasol" to some with a loose interpretation. Click Here.
I will post the finished images and my chosen image of the real gal here of course.

welp, I got it painted today. I actually slept through my classes by accident (forgot to set my alarm),
Yeah, I tried that excuse. My mom never believed it though.

That'll be a fun plane to see built. I have the Glencoe Models version of it, and I may just decide to build it if I get a week or two, as long as it's ok. It's been sitting around for probably 5 or 6 years with I think just the two fuselage halves together. no serious work done to it. Next time I go home I'll pick it up and take a pic of it and it can be decided if it would be allowed.

@ Stephen; good luck with this one. Sure something different then your usual biplane models. You made it easy for yourself finding a picture of the original plane:)

Ain't it the truth. . .what the heck is anthricite grey? These colour references are, well - strange.

I had originally planned to do the AZ Models Avro Tutor for this Campaign, but due to the short run nature of the kit thats going to be more of an involved build than I planned on doing this week.
As Im coming to the end of my P-47 build I wanted to do something simple, out of the box, and nothing too taxing on the old grey matter.
From the Airfix 70 Years Of The Spitfire set comes the old Supermarine S6B kit.
Im not sure what medium Im going to use for the bracing wires yet, but this will hopefully be a fun quick and satisfying build.
30 seconds after opening the plastic bag the major parts are dry fitted. A small amount of work around the wing roots but apart from cleaning up the parts this all fits together really well.
Im going to enjoy this!

just a quick post to show my progress on the Arado 68F.
got the nose cleaned up, panel lines rescribed, and lower wings togther and attached to the fuselage.
I think it looks pretty goofy without upper wings on - like one of those mudskipper amphibious fish or something.

First post and first model to be completed since my teens. A SMER 1:72 polikarpov i-153.
I would like to do a Spanish Republician fighter but then is doubt as to whether it ever went there so I'll stick to the box decals. Lucky enough there is a picture online of one of the box decal options. Here it is
Wish me luck, it'll be done on the dining room table and painted with a brush.

Thanks Nico the quality of the models on show here is pretty astounding.
In my excitement and original plan to build a spanish civil war plane i forgot that this polikarpov isn't from between the wars, it was made in 1940. So my entry will have to be a 1:72 SB6. It is a polish kit I got of ebay for pennies to use as a hack.
The SB6 is much more in keeping with the glamour and razzmatazz of the inter war years anyway.

Looks like theres going to be a brace of S6B's
Ive decided to attempt to do the rigging on this old Arfix kit with brass rod.
Some general mucking about with the floats section yesterday.
Now I know this section of bracing is going to work I'll paint the floats and make a jig to keep everything in position before I get the CA out.

Nice job Nigel!

Thanks Stephen
In order to hopefully make life easier in later stages of the build, partially due to the demarcation lines between the blue and silver Ive elected to paint the bulk of the S6B partway through assembly.
Consequently any "normal" assembly sequence has gone out of the window. I realise that Im going to be spraying over certain areas but generally theres a method to all the madness
Using brass rod has made the "rigging" pretty easy. Im hoping the kit struts will be up to the job or I may end up having to figure out a way of scratch building them.
The basic blue is painted and Ive dry fitted the top bracing wires. Im going to paint the 3 colour rudder and then protect it with Klear before adding the horizontal stabilisers.

I was burned out on modeling for some while, but starting at the beginning of this year I just dropped everything I was currently (not) working on and decided to start over on some new things. I remembered that I signed up for this campaign, and I am determined to finish something, so here goes. This is a Classic Airframes He-51, and the prototype I will be doing is of an aircraft captured by the Soviets:
I have no decals for this, but the scheme is simple enough to paint anyways.
I waited before deciding to post my progress, as I wanted to see if the burnout was really over this time:
Overall the fit was much better than the MPM He-45 I did last year. Classic Airframes makes some decent short-run kits.
As you can see I have almost finished the main body work on the fuselage. All that is left is to attach the bottom radiator and wheels, then I can mask and spray the primer on to inspect for any remaining seams.
I also have some other models in progress, but for now I think I will wait and just spring them on ya when I feel like it.

Nice choice of aircraft, and looks like you are off to a good start.
I'm wondering if that aircraft was actually captured, or just supplied to the soviets before Germany and Russia became hostile with each other. German Pilots actually trained in Russia for a while as I recall, though maybe that was before the He-51 was made.
anyway, very interesting subject whatever the case is of how it wound up in Soviet hands.

Now the rudders painted I can attach the horizontal stabilisers, and then it'll be time to see if it all actually fits together
Although completely innacurate, Im considering leaving the brass rods as they are, purely because I like the way they look.

Nice subject that He 51. One of those I'd like to do myself. Luckily I noticed this weekend Classic Airframe is again going to release this Heinkel in 48 scale this year and it's a new tooling!
