Hi all,
Vance, Andrew. Thanks for the comments. Yes natural sunlight does make the photos look much better, but remember, this is England in July, sunlight is in ver short supply

Thanks for the comments, Andrew and Vance. I appreciate it.
I felt this strange subject would be a nice "second" entry for this campaign.
I am planning on displying it in some kind of diorama with some other strange luftwaffe projects next to it.
Regarding the use of this strange subject the information is limited. I have no "solid" sources and have not found any pictures. Can anybody help about that?
Several internet sources say that several were build - numbers vary from 3 to 21, so unrealiable at best.
One internet site even say some were used in an unsuccesful mission against Soviet bridges over the Oder. I am sceptical about that information though.
Based on what I can read I just assume they were build before the end of the war and might have been used operationally although unlikely.
An interesting and unique build none the less

Looks great Jesper. I was wondering about the use of these things myself.
The pictures do look much beter Steve.
In case you have been wondering, I have actually been working on this campaign myself. I finally loaded up some pics this morning.
And this is where I am as of this morning. The underside blue is painted. I was going to do the topside tody, until I discovered I do not have the RLM 82 & RLM 83. Color me suprised.

Thanks for the comment, Carl.
Your build looks great. This is the Trumpeter 1/32 kit, right? I have this kit in my stash, so I will follow your build with interest.
Looking forward to see more

Hi all
Thought I would join this one, better late than never. I just started building the Hasegawa 1/48 BF109E-1 anyway and haven't been involved in a campaign for a bit. I only started it a couple of weeks ago, so hope that's OK? Cockpit is painted and I am about to close it up. I will try to get some photos before that.
I hope I have some better luck this time, I joined three campaigns about a year ago and only one of them got completed due to unforseen difficulties with the builds. One got binned, one got shelved until patience returned and the good one was actually quite a nice model (even if I do say so myself...)
Cheers

Hello,
I havn't had too much time last weeks. So here's a little photo update:
I used Revell's number 84 for the brown. Looks pretty allright to me. For the green and sandcolor I was recommended HB 168 and 172. These are unfortunately not for sale at my LHS.
Cheers, Nico

The kit is better than my building skills. Some of the kits have the fuel tanks and I think some of them don't. I filled the front tankk with Modeling Clay, and it seems to be enough to kepp it off its tail. The kit I am building is the "Heavy Armed" one with a bit of Eduard details. When you build yours up, you might want the Eduard set. It really brings the model to life. Fit is fantastic. I am ordering another of the same kit, and Eduard sets for my stash. This is a fantastic kit.
Wizard)- Glad to have you join us.
Nico)- Looks good.

Good quick progress on my little spit. Drilled out the intake, boxed in and minor detail in the wheel well, filled the gaps in wing root with some stock card and a little putty. Other than that it goes together really well. A nice change from the limited run stuff I've done since getting back into the hobby. Canopy dipped in future and masked. Time to get some paint on.

Looks good, JP. This old kit will turn into a little gem.
Looking forward to see it with some colours.

I have now re-started my FW 190D build for this campaign. The basic camouflage has been added. I still need some Brown violet mottling on the tail. After that some detail painting around the engine and landing gear - and then the decals will follow.
More to follow during the weekend....

A quick update. I have now finished the camouflage and the detail painting on my FW 190D. I am quite satisfied how the camouflage turned out. Next is the decals.

The camo does look very good Jesper.
My 262 is sitting patiently on a shelf awaiting the arival of its decals. I decided to not go with the kit decals. They look very good. I just didn't want to do those aircraft.

Thanks for the comment, Carl. Appreciate it
I have now added the decals. It did not turn out as well as I wanted. Everything looked fine, when I finished applying the decals. When everything had dried it turned out there are quite a number of very small airbubbles under the decals. I swear they were not there when I applied them
Maybe I can fix it during the weathering process.

Just a progress update on my wee spit. Nice kit but the decals are big and thick though.
Will need to paint on the tail marking rather than use these decals.
The wing roundels curled up a bit but a coat of future solved that. Touch up, details and the tail marking left to do.
Then it'll get a flat coat, stained with soot and then a final sealing coat.

Jesper, you are right about the same place on your build as I am on mine. I just got the decals on. Your 190 looks great.
JP, The Spit looks great.
I will try to get motivated for some photos soon.

Here is the finished FW 190D. This is the second finished build for this campaign. Now I have top cover for my Mistel 5 combination. The bridge at Remagen will not stand for long
I made it as the "Black 4" FW 190D that actually survived the war and was heavily photographed after the war by various GIs. I am quite satisfied with this build although I had some decal problems I did not managed to solve completely. In hindsight I also made the white spinner too heavy compared to the photos. Well, I still like the look of this bird.
I took photos both with and without flash, but I will try to take more pictures later on a slightly overcast day. Sorry this post has become a little picture heavy and might take some time to show

That came out real nice. I think the pics are fine.
Most of us cant even complete 25% of the campaigns. Jesper completes all the campaigns and does two entries on many of them. Slow down Jesper, you might give yourself a hernia.

Nice builds everyone! Hope you all had/are having a good weekend.
Finally, managed to get a photo of the cockpit of my BF109E-1. It's the Hasegawa kitand I'm building it OOB, except I will use Lion Roar PE pedals. I seperated the rudder; something I haven't done before.
Cheers

Yeah, I have really been building a lot of wingy things lately. Helps when it rains during my 2 weeks of holiday Anyway, I think I will focus on some tanks now for campaigns at armorama.

Thanks Jesper. I ordered a second Big ed set and a clear edition 262. It really improves the cockpit, as you can see. I got a wash done yesterday. I guess I took it off to soon, so I will do another wash in the morning. But this one is very close to being done. I think I will open up the gun bay and canopy for display. It is a shame the molding doesnt allow the engines to be displayed. Great kit.
