Thanks for the comments, Andrew. I tend to agree with you the USAF probably kept the aircraft a little more spotless. Some of the regions for the SU-7 where pretty rural with dispersal outside as I understand.
JP, nice progress. The double propeller looks great and really sets the plane aside from more conventional planes.
John, be careful with that model. A friend of mine build it and had serious problems with the fit of the fuselage.

Thanks Jesper,
All A-model kits I did so far, had fitting problems...I can pick other sukhoi's most of them from A-model and eastern express, so I guess fitting problems will be around
A couple of years ago I was building a Yak-21 from A-model... and it was useless, i mean after several night I trashed the whole thing.. nothing worked.. with the cockpit the 2 halves of the fuselage wouldn't fit, the plastic was a nightmare..
I hope these sukhoi's won't be like that (Su-7, 9 , 11, 15, 17's) it might be better to get the old italeri Su-27's I have a couple of them around..
Also I'm not very experienced with aircraft, and most of them have a dreadful fitting and other problems..I got to be patient !

..well, I'm finished - just got to do a wash and add the pitot tube...actually I'm not sure about the wash ..will keep this one looking shiny..
Klear worked its magic on the rather thick decals...

That's really great Neil. I think a wash or a sharpie to pick out the panel lines
will really make it stand out though. you still want to keep it clean an shiny though.
Now I'm really looking forward to getting the bright red on the MC72.

Welcome to the speed demon community, Neil
It is a really good looking addition to the campaign. I agree that the gloss finish just looks fast.
Thanks for participating.

Neil, that's a great job on a cool little plane. The paint color is a nice change of pace from the usual flat drab stuff. Very nice indeed fellow speed demon.

Hunter, I missed your question earlier. But here is the answer. I don't ask for gallery space. We just post pics in the thread for my campaigns. That makes it easier on everybody.

The MC.72 is up on her legs.
Cutting and pinning the legs with .5mm brass rod gives a bit of wiggle room when aligning them.
And makes fairing them into the fuselage much easier. I'll paint the pieces separately next.
And I still need to find copper leaf for the radiators, but slowly progress is being made.
Clicky pictures for larger sizes

HI JP
Nice work! I'm afraid I've no progress to report on my Curtiss, but we'll have our own little Schneider Trophy Race one day!
All the best

JP, she's looking great! As for the copper leaf......I don't know if you have craft stores in Scotland like we do here in the states (one on every corner) but over the weekend I found some metal leaf foil sort of like BMF in several different colors. This has the sticky backing like BMF but it's only about $2.00 per sheet. Think I'll pick up some and try it.

Just a brand name for a ultra fine permanent marker. Asda do one too .3mm marker much cheaper.
Just rule along the lines no fannying about with washes or airbrushes. Best for big gaps like between
flight surfaces rather than panel lines in 1/72. Are we going to see her revving up soon?

Jupp. That definately is red JP !
By the way. I haven't really got a grip on these old racers, but did she have TWO V-12's? Must have been a monster.
Thanks for the tip about reposting for getting the thumb out of the a**e! Will try that on my P 47.

Now THAT'S an engine. I've got to get home quick today so I can check the tube with sound!
Amazing really what they did in the twenties and thirties, that we are still busy perfecting nowadays.

So far I've been working on the cockpit of the Su-11 (1:72 A-model).
The fitting isn't very good and the plastic is typical A-model, white sprues of soft plastic.
Pics during the weekend.
