Well, I was hoping to have some new pics from my Su-11, but I had to rebuild the cockpit, since with the great, amazing fitting of A-model... if you assemble the cockpit the 2 halves of the fuselage won't close with a HUGE gap (5 to 6 mm)... so I had to break it down and rebuild it without the "sideways bathtub type".
Pics during the week.
Thinking of getting a new subject for this campaign.....

Sorry to hear the problems with the kit, John. A-model is notorious for having a very bad fit in many of their models.
Hope you solve it.

You have a unique model and a different subject. I like it. Most of my models have flaws (some quite large) but I can still live with them. I wish I could get an S6B (and had time to build it)

Hi all!
As there was not very much strength in the fuselage I used a piece of sprue and some plasticard to make a reinforcement.
Simple but very effective!
Finally, I could glue the tail cone in place, and the fit was very good thanks to the reinforcement!
Well, here I am with four VERY large sections, do I dare to get it all together?
All joints are filled, and they are loooong!
”Only” thing left to do is some serious sanding.
The very long joins have been sanded down with a 80-grit sanding paper (poor man’s Dremel),
But I will have to polish out some of the scratches mad e from the coarse sanding paper.
Now come the time to marry the front and aft fuselage sections!
But before that, I made another reinforcement like the earlier to add very much needed strength to the join.
Forgot to take a pic, sorry!
This build is picking up speed now, more is on the way!
Cheers!

Well I'll call it done. The finish leaves a lot to be desired. Looks much worse by camera than in real life though.
Thanks for the campaign a very interesting topic and a challenging build. Glad it is finished
Hi Jaypee!
No matter what You think JP, I consider this a beautiful build of a seldom seen aircraft!
A really good build, mate!
Cheers!

Hi there
Sadly, I've had to face reality and back out - work's too heavy and I need to concentrate what free time I do have on samples. There's no way I'll be able to finish (or probably even manage to get re-started!) my Curtiss Racer by the deadline - it needs so much work to make something presentable of it. I'll try to do my little speedster another time.
All the best
Rowan

I've got one of those Concords on my shelf. What scale is that? Looks to be 1/72 Looks pretty good thus far. I plan on doing mine (when I build it) in the Pepsi scheme as I just acquired the decals for that particular "Special edition paint scheme". Thanks, "Q"

Greetings from Orstaylya... or as we know it, Australia..
I have always thought that the very visual embodiment of speed was the F-104 Starfighter. Looks like it is going a million km/h just sitting on the ground. Anyway, here is my entry for this build. It is the Hasegawa 1/32 Lockheed F-104G/S World Starfighter. Now I think I remember reading somewhere that this is not really an F-104S, but only an F-104G. As this aircraft is supposed to depict an F-104S in Italian service technically I am wrong, but I just like these marking supplied with the kit. The Spainish and Taiwanese markings were big yawns!
Apoligies in advance for the background.. but I did have a celebratory beer when I had finished this beasty.
Not too many hassles with the kit. Fit was a bit dodgy in places. Not what you would expect from a more modern Hasegawa kit.
Time to check the GB schedule and start another project! Thanks to all who participated in this build.

yes it is 72.....but the plastic is too soft and all the big pieces were twisted.Above the cockpit a piece of plastic about 1 sq cm is missing but i think its only at my model .......
I hope with a proper construction and a very good polished finishing it will be very nice

Hi all!
More seams to fill!
After some hard sanding with a very coarse 80-grit sanding paper, this will require some polishing to even out all scratches.
It really looks awful right now, but it’s easy to “fill” with a brushed-on paint and some polishing!
Now it was time to paint the burnercans!
I painted them by the instructions CE supplied but I’m unsure if I even got close to the real thing!
Comments and hints are very welcomed!
Both burners completed and assembled.
These are BIG!
With the burner cans completed, I masked the canopies.
A close up shot on the completed and newly washed (not dry yet!) bang-seat from Pavla.
Some close-up shots on the completed cockpit with the seats added.
Finally I added the outer wings to the fuselage to get the airframe completed.
I also sanded off all the raised panel lines as I want this just as smooth as the real aircraft!
The grey paint was sanded down to a smooth surface to hide the seams.
Now, this is a really large bird!
How am I ever going to fit this into the paintbooth???
Cheers!

Looks good, Stefan. This is definitely a big beast. Be careful do not hit the wall by accident with that thing - it looks like it can go straight through!
Looking forward to see it with some paint on it.

Hi!
I've finally started building my F15 for this campaign... Here you can see results:
If I could go back to the past and give myself some advice about this kit it would be "Don't buy it"... Fitting problems for modern aircraft models are real fun-killers...

Stefan, that is one big beastie, and you seem to have been sanding forever. Lots of jets, I must try to find time for a quick prop-per aircraft

Sure does feel that way!
This took a LOT longer then I anticipated so I will hardly get her done in time!
Finally, time to paint the big bird!
To start I primed the model with a grey hobby-primer.
Had to do it in the garden as this model is so big I can hardly fit it in my paint-booth!
Next day I started with the black color!
Well, as you all know, straight black is waaay too dark on a model; it will only look as a black hole!
But I had what I thought was the perfect color on hand, White Ensign’s “Mitsubishi Cowl Black Blue”!
With the light grey undercoat I got a quite good looking bird.
Not black, really, but a very dark blue!
Without the flashlight (please excuse the poor pics);
”Only” the clearcoat and decals to go!
Cheers!

Blue, the new black!
Kidding aside, that is a nice shade to the Blackbird. It looks black even though it isn't, and then it's a great illusion. Looking forward to the finish!

Jesper you were right, the Su-11 from A-model is a kit...
To get the 2 halves of the fuselage to fit the cockpit tub can't be build in... I had to rework the whole thing... the fitting is awful, the filling didn't work out very well.
Since I want to finish this build as soon as possible (I'm hating this kit..) I won't restart the whole process. So after some filling and cleaning up, there goes the Aluminium colours...
Will start the wheels & weapons this weekend, and hopefully get some pics here with the Pe-3 from the other campaign..
Great builds so far around here... as usual... take care and happy modelling

John,
I have same issue with Italeri F-15... to many of edge-edge joints for my liking...
Anyway, now I'm placing decals... if anyone ask me to place even 1 more "NO STEP" sign I will scream .

This weekend, I took all my spare time and tried to finish the Su-11.
So far so good.. a little done in the afternoon, night and well .. until 6:29 am... a little crazy I know.
But the real problem was with the kit, I truly hate this A-model kit... I'm a patient guy, but after hours cutting and triming these cyrilic decals, guessing some since the decal sheet is incomplete, I broke 2 antennas and of course the canopy doesn 't fit...it's impossible!
I will have to cut the top of the seat or something..
some pics: decals applied 2 min before..
Just great my photobucket account won't open..
I don't know if there will be an extension for this campaign, I hope to post some pics this Monday but with all the surgery involved i'll just add the antennas and skip the canopy, not sure yet, might trash the kit, jump all over it and make a small camp fire under my workbench..
EDIT: after a small restart..
