Hi Rowan

many thanks for the info on the EagleCals, thats what I hoped!

I totally understand they want to save some money, but the Storch leaflets were just too bad. The thing i like most on the EC sheets is, that they provide very good information, often backed up with pictures (which are barely useable when printed on bad paper)

all the best

Hi all,

A couple of days ago I received an unexpected parcel from Ruslan Bilyk (Rest Models) with new improved parts for his He 112 model. It was quite a nice surprise...

Thanks a lot to you Ruslan, and also a little to you Steffen.

Ok! In the past week the postman has bought me, Trumpeter's 1/35 BR52 Kriegslokomotive, Lion Roar's detailing set for the same. One of the Airbrush companys Premi-air G35 airbrush and a DVD on painting aircraft. Also some polishing/abrasive sticks, some Ducati red paint and a front fork set from Hiroboy for a Tamiya motorbike kit I have had knocking round for a bit that I am going to build and give to a friend who's a Ducati fan.
Gonna be busy

I got a package from the Czech Republic today, as my order from CMK arrived.

- Cockpit set for Revell's Fw-190 (flat canopy goes to the Revell A8, the rest will sharpen up Academy's Dora)
- Sherman gun barrel & mantlet set
Then there's a replacement control stick for the 1:48 Brewster cockpit interior set (I lost the stick when I inspected the parts) as well as three Revi 3 gunsights from the same set.

Some more stuff

The book was on sale at moduni and as it is OOP at the publisher, I just had to buy it ... even if it digs me into the red numbers:

Nice one Mark!!

I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

It was my birthday this week , so some chance arrivals of samples timed in nicely as presents - a beautiful set of Master-Model .50 Cal barrels and a delightful CMR IK-2:

A special thank you to Jean-Luc for the lovely CMK Steyr Ambulance Conversion :

And my present to me...?:

All the best

Thanks Steffen.

Yes Chuck, the book is a stunner! I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone with an interest in US aviation of the period.

Here's my latest acquisitions for the last few weeks.

First (and not quite Aircraft related) is Tamiya's 1/48 Sherman and US infantry at rest that I'm converting to a M32 recovery Sherman and hopefully putting into a diorama for this years Bulldogs theme at Scale Model World 09

And onto the aircraft stuff, Several jars of Xtracrylics (all RLM colours for upcoming projects) and thinners, RB Productions R5 Flip etch folding tool and the rest are bits for my 1/32 Thunderbolt for the P-47 Campaign, Quick boost gun barrels, Eagles Cals decals for Daddy Rabbit and RB Productions 1/32 Seat belts

Lastly, I finally got around to spending my Birthday money from last month on the Airfix 1/48 TSR2 (but it's too big for my photo booth) and this butane soldering iron which I intend on using to solder brass rod when I scratch build the crane for the Sherman.

Cheers

From hannants today, I got the almark decals bumper pack.
The pack consists of 1 sheet each of french and british roundels (enough for eight a/c each)
1 sheet of eiserne and 1 sheet of balkan cross enough for 6 a/c each. plus some numbering.

2 each of 4 colour lozenge upper and lower
2 each of 5 colour lozenge upper and lower
and a sheet of red rub down stripes of varying thicknesses.

I need blue rib tapes for my next build but the kit will supply these.

All for a tenner. I know almark lozenge isn't perhaps the most accurate colourwise but it is bargain,
and it will let me cut my teeth applying lozenge without spending a fortune.
They do get a good enough review in terms of ease of application. Just a shame there was no
US WW1 roundels in the pack.

Anyone got two upper and two lower 1/72 US ww1 roundels they would like to donate to a colourful se5a?

Also I got Owls decals for a 1/72 109 E-4 night fighter. This was a few pounds and gives options
for two a/c, G9+GV and G9+JV.
It is a dead simple sheet but gives grey lettering whereas most kit versions give as red.
And a profile for the adjustments to the rudder and underside for the peilg system.

Now that is a great haul on the decals . I would like to see some pic's of the lozenge if you have the time to post some .

Rib tapes are easy to make JP , just airbrush some decal sheet and seal afterwards with decal film from microscale systeme or you can use the stuff that testors has . Then just cut it the the size you need . Never endding supply of them .

Can't help you with the American markings , I have some in 48 scale but not 72 , good luck on your hunt though !

Nice haul everyone!!

Dave: have to get one of those too ... one day

Allen: be careful with that flame thrower ... plastic and heat do not fit very well!

JP: nice Decal collection ... BTW that should be Balkenkreuz ("bars cross") as opposed to the Tatzenkreuz ("iron cross") ... Balkan is a geographic region in SE-Europe

here is what the postmal left at the front door:

luckily samples ... the P-40 will have to live as P-40 N-1 ... still have to find some pix of the crate (or sqn) I want to build, as I am not sure if it had 4 or 6 guns

all the best

You are of couse correct Steffen my speeling is awful in all languages. I learn something new everyday, Bars Cross.

Here are shots of my haul and a one of the lozenge for terri.

As for the us expeditionary roundels, I'll try masking them if I can't beg, borrow, or steal the markings.

Hi JP

Well, I am sorry. My spelling is also very bad (in English at least) and I do not want to play the "Oberlehrer" it is just that the words Balken and Balkan have a different meaning in German.

I am not sure if "bars cross" is the correct term, I just wanted to illustrate the difference. Actually the Tatzenkreuz is a variantion/form of the Balkenkreuz.

all the best

Steffen

The whole heraldy thing I always found interesting as most of these forms go way back to pre-history. Even more complex forms like the swasitka go way back to beginning of agriculture at least 10,000 years maybe beyond that. Strange that we still use them now. Balken being Beam or bar in german makes sense to me now. I always thought it that something to do with Sarajevo.

About to take the plunge and start building planes, here's what I got

Eduard's kit seems to come with everything that I'll need (without the need to buy aftermarket kits and accessories).

(old habits are hard to break).
