Hi Chuk,

Brilliant update as usual . One quick question if I may? Your photography is as good as your modelling. What setup do you use? Any special lenses and lighting etc.?

Thanks

Steve

Hello all- and thanks! I've been to the San Diego Comic Con last weekend and had lots of fun, saw old friends, talked to thousands of folks (it seems)- and brought home a dandy virus. Bleh! I'm on my third day home sick- feeling a bit better and getting in a little work on the engine. I'll be at a pal's wedding on Sunday so I'll try to get an update in Saturday- so stay tuned!

Steffen- fear not- I'll be fighting the good fight with those intakes once I get the wings glued together. maybe I can take a detour with the starboard wing and replace that pipe before tackling the one with all the exposed bits... hmm... danke!

Steve, I've got a Canon ASD800 IS Digital ELPH- the steadicam feature along with the digital macro allow for one-handed shots of my glacial progress. Lighting comes from ol' Sol plus my swing-arm Ott-lite. I adjust all the bad results in Photoshop to get the pics you see.

Now, a question for you, bold readeres! Anyone know anything about German flame dampers of the period? I'm searching for details of the end openings and the mounting hardware. I've made inquiries at the Luftwaffe Experten board and info is coming in- but there are always more questions, aren't there?

Thanks again!
chuk

Sturm und drang! That's what life's all about, isn't it? I was at the huge and amazing San Diego Comic Con last week where I have a table in venerable Artist Alley. I meet, greet and harrange the hoi polloi for four days of frenzied festivity, seeing old friends and strange sights. This year I managed to bring home a couple of colonies of 'em, in fact- the worst of which have evolved in a nifty case of bronchitis. I've been home sick since Wednesday, but have finally gotten some antibiotics and should see some improvement soon. I've been able to sit and fiddle with the Me 410, though- so much that I'm breaking this installment into two party- more to come tomorrow. In my fevered dreams I finally saw the identity of the mysterious and sinister officer who has haunted this build- I have met the enemy- and he is me!

Chuck these may be of help to you. These are the only pics I could find in my books of the DB601, however I thought this engine was replaced by the 603 in production aircraft.

Good Morning, Gentlemen...

I´ve been following from the anonymity this SBS since two months or so, and today I´m getting out from that condition just to say that I´m SHOCKED with the level of detail that Mr. Chuck is bringing to us...

The day that this is model is finished, I suppose that there will be a party giant-scale-event like the day the Bismarck BB went "wet".

And I suppose too that "the girls" will be in full-display-mode in that party, right???

Roberto, welcome to forum.

And Chuck, your detailing always amazes me. That motor is one small 'award winner' by itself already! How visible will the engine be i.e how much 'unnecessary work' you do?

The engine detail is astounding! I hope you're feeling better, and still find time make some progress with the model.

Thanks, gang!

Darren, I'm sorry if I misled you- I was looking for DB603 ref and I'm afraid I wasted your time. So sorry!

Tuomas, I'm really trying to stick to what will be seen. I am adding some "background noise" to fill the empty spaces- but then again- that's the fun part!

You thrilled at the maze of wires! You chilled at the hosts of tiny parts! Now for some mounting tension as I build all-new engine mounts, all in part 2 of...- Terror of the UberMotor!

Sweet as a nut!
Once again you come timely to my rescue. I'm struggling with mounts for my
Merlin in a p51b. Using the mix of alu and plastic is likely to save the day.

Fritzy looks a little too happy to be bobbiting that shaft or is that just how my
mind works?

Thanks, Aeroscalers!

It's been a looong month, and sometimes you just need to catch up a bit. Weeks and weeks ago I drew and inked this sketch of Fritzi and Hannah whilst sitting on the beach. Enjoy this brief update- and cheers, my friends!

Chuck, I am in awe.
not only for this but for your other work as I'm also an avid comic book reader and enjoy video games.
A coworker and I watched a recent ComicCon interview with you this AM.

Just call me fanboy.

Now I have to go back and see if I have any books you worked on ...
