Hi again
Well, it's always a relief when the gunge comes off and doesn't take all the paint with it!
Cheers Robby. What I've done is daub oil paint roughly along the panel lines. I don't usually do washes, because I always seem to get "tide marks". I wipe it off after about an hour (there's still more work to do in the pics above). Using neat paint I end up with a softer edge than I get with a wash, and I like the way it can stain the paintwork underneath slightly.
So, I've basically got this week to do carry on with the weathering and seal it, finish the ejector seat and get the MiG on her wheels. It could be tight... I think mine will stay unarmed while it waits for some North Star weapons to hang under the wings.
All the best

Hi all
just to make the campaign (extension) I'll post the pix from my build thread here too. I am in the process of adding weapons, but I do not want to hurry things and the RS-2S need some care...
these were taken at our IPMS Deutschland annual show in Berlin Gatow ...

Thanks Tom, hopefully I'll finish it. Keep running into issues both with the kit and stealing time from other things in life to get it done.
That MiG-9 looks fantastic; if you think the MPM kit is a 'dog', you've never seen the old Skarabei kit

Great work everyone!
I really hope I could finish my entry in time, but it's been way too late for quite some time already. Erik, same here; I've been quite busy lately with my newly started studies as well as the associated non-academic endeavours... But I made it pretty far and I had a blast. No worries, I'll get my MiG done sometime in the (hopefully near) future and post WIP pics and of course the finished bird here on Aeroscale.
Thanks for running the campaign, I had a great time!

Hi again
Ditto that! Looking back through the thread, there are some fantastic builds. I love the MiG-9! I just want one in 1:48! It's a real shame to see a Eetu and Luciano pull out so close to the finishing date - I'll look forward to seeing their MiGs soon.
Anyway, I can't take too long away from the workbench or I'll miss the deadline myself! I've sprayed a silk-coat and unmasked the canopy:
My target today is to get the undercarriage and dive-brakes on - and I think I might be able to fit some weapons after all.
All the best

Here's my latest progress on the Royal Malaysian AF Mig-29N. Now only left minor details. canopy and missiles to complete.

Nice build Ken! I always like seeing different AF's markings on traditional planes! The overall finishing is really convincing too.

Thanks Robby, Jesper.
Just finished the kit.
I used Italeri 1/72nd Mig-29A as Malaysian Migs are basically updated Mig-29A. The decals I used are from ScaleNutz. I built this machine to represent an RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force) / TUDM (Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia) Mig-29N in an earlier scheme from mid 1990's till early 2000s. The IR probe is scratch-built, I just hope that it's not too inaccurate. Currently, RMAF Migs are painted in boring overall grey...

Nicely done everybody. I am away for the weekend to photograph wildlife (another hobby) and will post the ribbons once I have returned. Make sure you have pictures posted in the gallery. Thanks again for the great turnout and participation. We will have to do this again in the future! Until next time comrades.

Many thanks Allen,
I found my mistake: I searched in the campaign folder in "Home". Maybe it is a good idea to post a link to the gallery on the campaign page in the future ( IIRC there already were campaigns where this was the case).
thanks again and all the best

Hi there
Well, I didn't manage to arm my Eduard MiG to the teeth - I'd forgotten the pylons would be covered in stencils like the rest of the aircraft! The decals have snuggled down over the prominent raised detailing amazingly well, but they won't be dry enough to risk weathering within the deadline.
So, I'll call my build finished without them:
All the best

We do post a link to the campaigns gallery on the first post for that campaign but it may be an idea to put on the campaigns enlistment page as well. Many thanks Allen,

Wow Rowen.. finished kits are few an far between for you but the finish you achieve is outstanding. After seeing a few of these Eduard Migs here i may have to look out for one at Telford

Congrats to all who have finished. I will sort through the gallery and get the awards posted soon. I just returned from a week end long trip into the woods to photograph wildlife and am about spent. I need a good night or two's sleep to catch up. Thanks for participating....awards to follow shortly. "Q"

Thanks for the great campaign! One thing however, I have tried several times to upload to the campaign gallery without success. It comes up saying that the photos were successfully uploaded but they dont appear in the gallery. More hair lost.....

Don't worry Nick I've managed to upload them for you. Can't tell for sure what the issue is as they went in first time for me. I would put it down to the Gallery being temperamental as usual I have tried several times to upload to the campaign gallery without success.
