I'm afraid I'm going to have to drop out of this one. With all the work the Viking needs I can't finish it anywhere near the deadline, couple that with other campaign commitments and commitments to my local club, well you can see how it is.
Whenever I do get the Viking finished I'll be sure to post up a few pictures here, just so everyone can see it.

Great build, Leon. A well deserved prize.
Sorry to hear you are dropping out, Logan. Real life has its ways to demand more attention sometimes
I have started and almost finished constrcution of my entry for this campaign. The A-4 Skyhawk from Matchbox. I am going to build it as a flying machine wheels up and on the Matcjbox flying display.
The work was actually done a couple of weeks ago, but only had time to post now.
Hope to start painting soon and give regular updates.

Hi, I just joined this campaign.. I'm currently building an early French Navy crusader besides other kits... is this eligible for the campaign?

You are right, Leon. These old Matchbox kits really bring out the memories. Of course with lack of detail compared to todays kits, but very enjoyable for me none the less.
Ken, I believe your A-8 Crusader would fit perfectly in this campaign if you started building after the campaign started. I am not the campaign leader, so cannot confirm for sure, but I see no problems.

Ken, then I believe your build would work perfectly with this campaign. Please share some photos of your build when you have the opportunity.
Ayhan, great build! It looks fantastic and I like the way you bring out the details with a light wash. Any tricks to share with us?

Ayhan, nice looking Starfighter! The look of the former Luftwaffe Norm 83 camo scheme is very good !

A little more progress on the A-4M Skyhawk for this campaign. Progress is fine. Next are the colourful decals. I really like these old Matchbox kits despite the lack of details.
More to follow soon.

I have finished my 1/72 Matchbox Skyhawk for this campaign. I kept it very clean since the original aircraft also seemed to have been very well maintained. At least during training.

Nice work. Always good to see what can be done with the old matchbox kits. I've got one myself somewhere waiting to be built but the decals have gone bad.
We're lucky that revell have reissued a lot of matchbox stuff, but if only they'd reissue the 2 seater Lightning.
Managed to get a primer coat on my Sukhoi this evening. Hoping to get it painted by the end of the week if things aren't too chaotic.

Hi everybody. Have had a lot of spare time up my sleeves of late and have managed to get through a few kits, however, my camera decided to die awhile back so have resorted to the mobile. Sorry for the poor pics.
This one is a 1/72 Italeri Skyhawk. Wasn't a great kit but went together well, just lacking alot of detail. Anyway, here you go...
Again, sorry for the poor pics.
Cheers,
Nick

Majority of the painting is now done on my sukhoi thanks to humbrol spray cans. Just a bit of brown and green cammo patches, gloss, decals, and then fiddly bits stuck on. Should have pics up by thursday if all goes to plan.

some progress pics of my entry, started to paint.

Nice to see another jet from the other side of the iron curtain. What markings are you thinking of using?
Final painting and decaling has now been completed on my sukhoi, just final work to do tonight so should be on schedule for finished pics tomorow.

Finally done. Trumpeter 1/72 Tu-22M2 Backfire B strategic bomber.

Nice work Eman. Backfires look good in that grey and white scheme.
I'm also calling mine done. VEB 1/72 SU-7BM 'Fitter' of the Egyptian Air Force during the Yom Kippur War of October 1973.
Had a bit of a nasty surprise when I removed the masking tape from the canopy to find a horrible sticky residue on the canopy. Odd that it happened here, used the same tape to mask the bottom of the fuselage and that came off no problem. Haven't managed to move it yet and its hardly noticeable in the pics. Also didn'yt put anywhere near enough weight in the nose, so its a tailsitter. Had to try and stick the nose down with blu-tack on the nosewheel for the photo's. All problems I'll sort out next week when I have time. Still an enjoyable build and it gave me an excuse to use those Egyptian markings that had been in spares for years, so something very different on the shelf.
