Eetu, having built the same kit, I think Bob is right. Since there are too many variations over the same basic mould, it would seem the kit was first designed without clear parts... then they were later added into the boxes.
I didn't even bother installing them in my build... just painted the blobs of plastic silver, then painted over the silver with transparent acyrlic paint. They looked good enough

Great builds in this campaign. Very inspiring.
I am building the Hasegawa kit for this campaign. Could not resist the big skull decals for the cowling.
The construction started some time ago, but only got the pictures up now. Since this picture was taken painting has begun. Nice little kit so far.

What??!!! INSIDE?!! When I took the picture the fuselage was not glued to the wings yet.
The hasegawa fit is so perfect that the two parts just snap together.

Hi All,
Firstly:
Bob sorry it has taken me so long to reply about the paint refs, as I did some checking on the Vallejo paints and they do not do anything for the RAAF paint schemes, unless they are either American or British Factory supplied aircraft.
Now my P40k 'Hyde's Harlot' has progressed to almost completion, just a couple of minor touch up's, the kit was the Hasegawa 48 scale P40k and I used the 'B' option of the kit decal sheet on this bird, all pints are the Model Master Enamels, except for the panel staining which is a mix of both the Tamiya 'Weathering System' sets and an Acrylic mix of 90% smoke + 10% Matt Black to 10 parts thinner. The wing tip nav and tail formation lights, I used on my build are the clear parts from the kit, simply remove the raised plastic and drill a hole to match the base stem on the clear lens.
The clear nav light lens
Closer pic of the Cobra artwork
The inside of the Cockpit using the kit decal
The two touch up's are the pitot tube end and the 'plug' the fill the radio antenia.

Very nice build, Rob. Your P-40 looks excellent. Love the snakes head.
I have made a little more progress on my P-40 and it is now ready for decals and weathering afterwards.

Rob, that's one awesome P-40 with a super cool nose art and a great paint job!
Jesper, if I were you I would check the wing root. Looks like you might need some sanding and putty there.

I have finished every campaign I have joined, and this one will be no exception!
Sadly the plan of building with the wife didn't pan out (who'd have guessed she wouldn't want to drag her ass into the basement every night to build?), so now I'm making up for lost time on my own.

Not as fine a build as those in this campaign, but I'll post final pics anyway, seeing as this is my first wingy thing in half a decade or more... And you know what? I think I won't wait that long again for the next one!
It was a fun and quick build, so much that I forgot to take any pics of the painting process... I'm actually quite happy with it, with more to learn with attaching canopies, antennas and some variation in the colors. Any comments and tips very welcome!
Cheers!
Stefan

Hey all...I'm not dead yet.
Just spent the last 2 months or so getting life out of the way and have finally made some progress on my build. I should be posting some update picts in the next day or so.
Stefen : however you feel about ti, it's still a wonderful looking build.

Thanks for the help Damian you were 2nd in command anyway, or did all of those other campaigns make you forget besides this is yours now BOSS! I decided to try to finish as many builds that are sitting in front of me before i start packing, finished aircraft models do not travel well by experiance so the local boys will have a hey day here. The "F" is ready for paint as soon as I can mix some Azure Blue.

Hi All,
Stefan,
Nice replication on A29-113, even though this bird is under a lot of speculation as to the colour of the "U" code
'Hyde's Harlot' is now a finished subject.
If I have time I may do the 'K' as flown by Flt.Lt. John Gorton.

Nice build, Rob. That P-40 cowling just shouts special artwork.
I have added the decals to my build. I am also using the cowling for special artwork - skull style
More to follow.
