Have a look here for casting supplies they have some starter sets that are quite reasonable and should be available locally, I got mine from a local fiberglass shop.

well you guys inspired me. You never know unless you try so I ordered the resin set up and we will see how it goes. Do you guys just want the engines them selves or the vents as well? Vents of course are going to raise cost? and be one hearty piece of resin please let me know your thoughts?

I would love a copy of your main wheel wells Justin. It's there any chance of that?
I am still looking into casting up the blackbird noses that I started ages ago. I've finally picked them back up after life got in the way.
Let me know how you go with your casting experiments.

Hi Justin.

Entirely a matter for you but for starters, why not I politely suggest, just do the engines? Not only will it keep overall costs down (at both ends) and production time for you, but as you rightly identify, with the vents it's going to be a big chuck of resin. As such, this will inevitably attract higher shipping costs which may be a factor for potential overseas customers given shipping rates (which are of course out of your control) are significantly increasing all over the world for international post.

Even the engines alone as a set will make a significant and positive impact to the overall appearance of the kit - as you know the kit engine parts are very poor - and probably satisfy the vast majority of mainstream modelers who don't want to go overboard details wise with the kit.

Alright so I think I will sell the engines and include the vent doors as the kit does not come with them.how's that sound? The wells are a different story all together there's a lot of detail which could cause some mold issues when I get into it further I will make an attempt:)

Alright folks so the master's are completed......





things Are looking good I actually upgraded them with more detail this time. Kindly let me know your thoughts? And if there is anyone out there who can tell me if the resin will flow through toothpick size bleeder holes alright or give me some pointers on pouring those baskets which are really racking my brain unless they will flow with those holes then all is well. Any thoughts appreciated

Introducing a note of complexity into the mix, they might better be done in photo-etch rather than resin. You may want to include a resin bending tool though.

JUSTIN,
When it comes to resin molding, all masters you have completed pose no problems, except the wire assembly in front
of the fan. This might be better represented in photo etch. That assembly would be nearly impossible to cast with no flaws, and still have integrity. Good Luck

I was thinking of the difficulty on getting the resin to flow down such tiny mould cavities without getting air bubbles blocking the resin. In the interests of production simplification photo-etch might be more dependable. But what do I know, given that I have never done either in a production environment?

The only problem with pe is the cost will go up.I will try to cast this as one part if not I will cast the rings seperate with added assembly

These will make a superb upgrade and replacement of the kit parts Justin.

If you can cast the rings in one piece without the probs others have mentioned - great stuff. If not and for the sake of adding a few $ to the overall cost, you may want to experiment with PE and see if this is any better? Bottom line, this is your 'baby' and I have every confidence in the end result.
