Very nice pair of biplanes there Jessica, thanks for your contribution to this Campaign. It's been fun watching your builds progress and the two will make a good little display.
Looking good Dirk, great progress. I love the display stand-zilla as well mate!

Painting of the A-20 has commenced.
Here the canopy has been masked off. It's not perfect but I think I'm starting to get the hang of now.
The bottom was painted neutral gray and later masked.
First coat of Olive Drab
Second coat
And then I free handed the green. I'm happy with the results.
Touch up work will be needed on the Neutral Gray as some of it came up when the tape was removed. I think this was a first time this happened.
Thanks for looking.

Running down to the wire on this one.
Thought I was done with the painting and started decaling last night. THen saw that I've forgotten to paint the fin flash...
Flash is painted and all of the decals on one side are done. Finish th decals and move to the fiddly bits. Might make it..

Not much to show for last nights work. I masked off the kit and painted the blue bits, added the nose guns, rear turret and touched up all the places where the paint was pulled up by the tape.
I had to redrill the holes in the nose to get the guns to fit
I didn't like the look of the guns painted steel and have since repainted them gunmetal

Looking good Dirk, keep up the pace and you'll be done in time (unlike yours truly here who has had no time at all for a couple of weeks )

Dirk, your A-20 is looking great. Don't know if I could build as fast as you have! I'd be interested to know if Revells 'new' A-20 is the Matchbox kit.
Mark, the Sabre's looking great, and we've all forgotten to paint the odd thing and only realise during decalling. I'm sure you'll have it sorted by the end.

Gosh, I hope so. I noticed the back side of a few components needed paint last night, that'll be easy to fix.
BUT, what did I do with the wheels? What safe place are they stored in????

Hi gang! Its too late to join, but I ran through the thread from back to front and noticed a lot of fun happening.
@Chris: Beautiful Sea Vampire.
@Jesper: I do remember how much fun it was to assemble a Matchbox kit with no mind blowing problems. Nice F6F.
@Ken: I nice job on your Fiat GR91.
@Allen: How many kits did you start for this campaign? I have trouble with just one, I like the Egyptian markings on your Lighting.
@Andrew: Nice job on your Heyford.
@Phil: I had the Ju188 so many years ago it seems prehistoric, BTW I love you paint job.
@Sam: I built (5) Matchbox P-51s in the 70's but not as good as yours.
@Stephen: I do not remember the Matchbox Seafox, must have been asleep at the wheel again. Nice build.
@Jessica: Two nice builds and both with wire. You are my hero with those pesky wires.
@D: Hello buddy, nice job on your Swiss Bf109. Hopefully it was an easier build than that P-82?
@Mark: Fellow Texan, nice job on your F86. PM me.
@Dirk Pitt: At one time I had (4) A-20s but never built any just sold em. nice paint job, what blue did you use?
Bob

It's good to be reminded of how good some of these kits where, I for one felt quite refreshed to work on a relatively simple but attractive model, that was a bit out of the ordinary. The quality of the moulding and fit on my kit was excellent even if the moulding colours were somewhat strange. Good group build with some nice models, excellent suggestion D.

I have the Do 18 completed, just have to place on the invisible thread. Hopefully that is not beyond the parameters of this gb. Guessed what the colours should be for D.L.H. Photos up soon. Rigging diagram supplied by William Green's book.

Here are the much anticipated photos, it is no award winner, will lovingly sit on the shelf only moved for dusting purposes. Guessed the colours would be RLM 63,65,73 interpreting the colour descriptions from back of the box. First time I rigged a plane guess my rod that I used was a tad out of scale. Figuring the actual placement was tricky. Kit went together well though wing fit was fudged. The gap was placed on the underside.Need to paint and adhere the canopy. I am calling it done.

We are almost there. Last night I installed the decals. All that's left is the rear glass behind the turret (keeps falling inside the fuselage), the props and a base.
Thanks for looking

The A-20 is looking great.
What's that blue stuff you used to mask large areas, please?

It's just ordinary painters tape I found at a local hardware store. Nothing special but a lot less expensive then modeling tape.

I am trying to upload a photo into the gallery, no such luck. Is there a way in which I can submit a photo to the gallery via photobucket?Or I need to upload thumb prints. Any other suggestions?

The gallery is size limited; it chokes over large images. Try resizing your images to 800X 600.

Getting so close, just a couple of decals left. Found the missing wheels. Just need to add the last decals and the fiddly bits and I'm calling it done.

That looks great, I want one. I already have two with the yellow bands but I want one with the black and white. Well done...

Thanks.
Kit decals, slightly out of register. BUT, the Fuselage band went on wonderfully. Wrapped around without wrinkling, even allowed me to lift and re-set the ends so that the offset wasn't visible. Wings bands not so much.
Even looks a bit like the real thing.
4th FIW Suwon, ROK 1950?

Well, like I said, the fuselage band was great, I tore it after I thought I was one with it. The wing ones were so stiff they were hard to lay down and curl under. I ended up gluing one in place with Future.
I am sweating the wing walk stripe, it's thin and has a couple of bends.
Then it's the fiddly bits, I've lost both of the doors for the MLG struts, luckily, I still had one to use as a master before I lost the second one. One of the main doors is also scratch built (flat sheet, not a lot of engineering). The carpet monster returned the wheels last night, I wonder what I had to sacrifice to get that gift....

I think the Sabre looks fantastic. I will be looking for one very soon. One thing I noticed looking at the real one in the photo is the USAF decal on the wing is misplaced. According to the photo its square to the fuselage not the leading edge of the wing. Looking at the F86 on my desk its the same as yours.

A wise man once said, "Check your references". Kinda wish I had now. I may have more photos of 4 FIW, sabers but their on my work computer.

Inching to the finish line. It's finally on it's gear after 6 months. Just gotta get the gear doors, pitot tube and speed brake attached..
Here's the other decal option in the kit:
And here's the best evidence I've found for the USAF placement. Looks like neither perpendicular to the fuselage nor parallel to the leading edge.
