Sounds fun. Although I may live to regret saying that

If I can get hold of one I may be in with the Maquette rebox of the B-17E finished as Gene Roddenberrys 'Yankee Doodle'. I'd prefer to use the Academy kit but no luck finding one at a sensible price.
If not then I also have an Ark repop Maryland and an original boxing of the Baltimore, although that might be worth more untouched!

They really don't command "collector" prices, as far as Ive seen.

Quite often it's not so much the cost of the kit as it is quoted shipping fees. Those can be criminal.
I've been watching the auction, and one seller wants $32.00US for shipping an $8.00 kit out of country. Now, I know shipping costs have increased, but!!

This issue apply's across the board on mail-order. Anything bigger than a letter is becoming unreasonable to ship.

I like the white version myself. It is easy to see, a classic. Jonathan, thank you for all you've done to make this campaign happen.

Might have something to do with insurance if the parcel is lost in transit. Most postal services make it very difficult to compensate the sender for their mistakes. Who in turn has to compensate their customer if things go wrong. There's also a growing problem of buyers who use paypal claiming unrecieved goods and getting paypal to instantly make refunds from the sellers account. There was a recent discussion about this on one of the forums here. I find a lot of online retailers er on the side of caution these, and having worked in an online model business for a few years you never forget that kind of crap and financial loss when it happens. A lot of retailers are fair but yes there are a few who charge more than they should. It never hurts to try to negotiate down and shop about till you find someone who you can trust.
Anyhooo, about when would we be thinking of starting the campaign if it takes off?

I am ALWAYS down for building classic plastic; heck, most of my stash collection falls into that category. It's kind of an obsessive disorder, gathering up old Airfix/Heller/Frog/Matchbox kits, and even old Revell and Matchbox. So you can add me to the roster for the GB! Not sure what I'll build just yet, I have several Frog kits and continue to pick them up.

Managed a score at the Seattle IPMS spring show:

First Frog kits I've ever knowingly purchased. There were several bagged NOVO kits at one dealer, might have been Fairey Gannets. But cleverly, the front page of the instruction sheets were carefully placed under the plastic parts. Being unable to read Russian I was at a loss. They also had some Sea Vixens but I couldn't figure out who the mfg was.

I dont have the Flying fortress. Anyway, Im not selling my collection, Im only giving away a few duplicates.

Whats inside the Mosquito box? well, Ive never built one, and Im not going to unseal it! Part of the appeal of this campaign is not being sure what youre getting.. It's yours if you ask for it, and you have to give it a go if you take it, but Im not making any representations about what you will find.

Oh don't worry I wouldn't expect you to sell anything. It was a long shot. That one seems to fetch silly money, even a rebox I'm finding. I'll let you know if I'll give a mosquito a bash.

I have the Maquette Boeing 307 kit, which contains most of the Frog B-17 (no clear parts). This is what you get, as moulded by the people who did the Nova kits. The amount of flash is considerable.

And the bits which make it a 307

The Frog kit is a B-17F, which is mostly, but not entirely completely inaccurate for a 307, so I'm going to use a Minicraft B-17B for the various donor parts instead. It may be possible to adapt the Falcon clear parts although you'd be on your own for the ball turret.

There are no instructions and no decals, but if someone feels up to a challenge it's available...

Well, I must say that Boeing 307 idea certainly looks adventurous.

I'm not quite sure if the Modelcraft Blackburn Shark is a re-boxed Frog. I think so, though. Its all I have.

Is the 307 fuselage vac-moulded? I think your in for a tough job with that one.
Those B-17 parts look no better than the Academy F I've got. That had a fair bit of flash and in my opinion a very crude and simple interior. I only wish they'd put their E back on general release.
A decent model can be made with the Frog/Novo/Maquette with a little TLC. Take a look at this guys... http://uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2445&sid=500e663c1fb37dd09b26d8a4b5347348&start=60

Surely it can't be no more hassle than that Airfix 2001 Shuttle I'm still beating into submission.

We seem to be getting close to 10 interested partiers now.
Here's a first draft of some rules-

"Any airplane delivered from any molds developed by the Frog model company, or sold under their marque during their existence."

"The entrant will be required to cite evidence of pedigree, for any kit without the 'FROG' marque on the label - educate us about the Frog diaspora."

"Any desired decoration, prototypical or fictional allowed."

"Any modification, aftermarket or scratchbuilt, up to 50% by weight allowed."
so for example, I dont think the B307 conversion would fit in here, even using the wings from the Frog kit, but a B-17 finished out from Jessie's most-of-a-B17-kit definately would.

edit to add - a quick Google turns up several writers who state that the Modelcraft Blackburn Shark is indeed from the Frog molds. cite 1, cite 2

No, it isn't vac, it's a very crudely moulded injection plastic reminiscent of the old OKB Tu-104 that's been forever sitting in my WIP pile. The fuselage walls are on the order of 3 or 4 milimetres thick (and very variable) while one side is roughly 3mm longer than the other and the lower fuselage seam resembles something geographical after a major earthquake has occurred. This one's going to be a putty monster for certain. I'm seriously considering getting the Airmodel vac conversion kit instead.

Yeah, it certainly can't be any worse than that. Odd looking plane though, like a C-46 with 4 engines.
As tempting as the offer of the Fortress parts are I think I would struggle with the clear parts. The Falcon set seems to only have the later F/G upper turret and ball turret could be a huge problem. You'd think Falcon would include it. I'll keep shopping around if I still have no joy I'll let you know.

I seem to remember Frog doing ship models, HMS Undine comes to mind in I think 1/500 scale. What about them if any still exist?

Yes I had one of those a couple of years ago, odd subject. The Undine was an interesting subject, a conversion from a WW2 destroyer to anti submarine frigate, Frog certainly covered some unusual subjects. The other one I remember was Amy Johnson's DH60 Moth Jason.
