I don't believe so. Frog is an acronym for "Flies Right Off the Ground", something which tanks hardly ever do.

Just wondering if there would be other build options open to us. And I have wondered about the name, so thanks for that. I don't want to make anybody feel old but frog came and went before my time.

I understand Frog also made Car kits as well as ships, in addition to planes, so I will submit this to Kitmaker in hopes of luring out some of those unwinged vehicles.

We have heard from the following interested parties

I will therefor contact the powers and request a place in the queue for Flies Right Off the Ground.

Frog molds were used by Novo, Eastern Express, Maquette and just recently by Modelcraft so as long as the moulds are definitely ex FROG I'm guessing they'd be okay? So as you can see old moulds never die they just wind up in another manufacturers facility! I think I may just have an old Frog catalogue somewhere I'll hunt it out and see what might be on offer.

yes, exactly, and part of the objective of the campaign is to learn more about that phenomenon.
the rules i suggested to the administation

"Any kit delivered from any molds developed by the Frog model company, or sold under their marque during their existence."

"The entrant will be required to cite evidence of pedigree, for any kit without the 'FROG' marque on the label - educate us about the Frog diaspora."

"Any desired decoration, prototypical or fictional allowed."

"Any modification, aftermarket or scratchbuilt, up to 50% by weight allowed, that is it must be 'mostly a Frog'."

Browsing around, i have seen several of the ships for sale, those went to NOVO also, Ill probobly buy one myself, but no automobiles yet.

Also check at http://frog.cocardes.com/, the Frog 'virtual museum'. The site is in French and by no means complete as of yet, but you can get some useful information in the text (after translating with Google, of course) and compare the sprues shots from a kit in question to those of the original Frog/Tri-Ang molding.

Thanks, that's very helpful. Looks like my 2 most recent acquisitions were released in 1971. This build is open to all Frog molds, isn't it? There's not a released before date limit.

No rule about date of manufacture. If your kit says "Frog" on it, it is my understanding that it was made before 1973.

Count me in with the A4 Skyhawk. If anyone has a spare canopy for this I would be grateful as the box I have was crushed when I received it via E-bay, the canopy fell out and I stepped on it. If not, don't worry, I have an idea for presentation that is a little different. Thank you

The Frog Skyhawk is the Hasegawa mold; you'll have better luck finding a canopy from one of those boxings, as there are far far more available on the market. Or try for a vac canopy meant for the same.

I've just seen that I've got a Revell 1/72 Heinkel 219 in my stash. It certainly not 'new' and a quick google search seemed to suggest that it might be Frog. Can anyone confirm this?
If so I may have my build sorted.

Its a bit hard to follow the chart for that kit on scalemates. I can't work out if it was originally Revell, then appeared in a Frog box, back to Revell and then on to AMT.
But I did check it out on the Frog virtual museum site. The shots of the sprues certainly look like whats in front of me. I've got plenty of time to double check before I commit.

From what I can see the two kits seem to be unrelated. The Revell kit traces its lineage by the red line at the top of the timelene, while the Frog kit traced its by the green line which ends in 1973.

Revell kits almost invariably have a (c) Revell 19XX engraved on them somewhere (most often in the worst possible location).

The timeline for the kit on the Scalemates page is a mess, full of errors. That's the problem with user-generated content, unfortunately. Revell had their own original mold in the 70's, but then at some point in the late 80s or 90s [AFAIK] switched to the Frog mold. To confuse things more it is possible that *both* were released at different times in the newer blue Revell AG boxes!

Easiest 'Revell' Uhu identification: if your He 219 has a fuselage that is split vertically, it is the Frog mold; if it is split horizontally (an upper and a lower fuselage) and has the option to display engine panels open, it is the original Revell mold from, I believe, the early 70's.

EDIT: It was, indeed, the case for the 'Blue Boxes'. 1992 box (4116) was the original Revell mold, while the 2010 box (4690) is the old Frog kit. I did some digging at pictures of the box contents of the different incarnations; the Scalemates page will be fully corrected within the next day or so.

I have the He219 by Revell from 1968. There is a Revell blue box version on the shelf in my local hobby shop. It will be interesting to see whats inside the box.

Cheers for that. Mine is kit 04690, vertically split fuselage and the same incorrect radiator intakes as I've seen in pictures of the Frog Uhu. So a Frog it is and its what I'll go with. Unless I come across that Baltimore, in which case I'll have to flip a coin. Or build both.

As posted elsewhere I visited Hannants today and purchase number 2 was......

Yes, in their secondhand section for a mere £6.50 an Me Bf110G.
First impressions, raised panel lines, yellow decals and instruction sheet, but moulding looks crisp. Sprues have been cut apart but the kit has not been started. Could be 2 builds for this campaign and they would be complimentary aircraft!
