I was confused, DeHavilland used the Comet name on more than one design. The Frog model of the DH88 racer is of course 1:72 scale. The jet Airliner is 1:96.

Should be able to help out with plans as I have one in my stash will post them after I visit the cave . Have to find my Hornets for the DH campaign.
So McGrump any chance you visited your cave to see if you have the Frog Blenheim instructions ? I need to check if I am missing anything. I do have several loose parts and not all are matching up to the spruce tree(s).
Thanks and Cheers

Well, if this gets going I now have a singular FROG kit in my collection, An ME 410.
Question: is this meant as a nostalgia campaign or should we strive to pull out all the stops and make us some silk purses?
Cheers,
Fred

snippet of the rules say
The mission is to complete a kit which came from the Frog manufacturing company or one of its descendants, using whatever skills and materials prove necessary to achieve a pleasing result.
and
"Any modification, aftermarket or scratchbuilt, up to 50% by weight is allowed, that is, the finished model must be mostly a Frog."
I have been waffling between kits and currently I am most likely doing the Frog P-40. I will need to replace the canopy (missing) and prop (broken). I will at least put an aftermarket seat in the cockpit void.
Cheers

I'm still in with the Revell rebox of the He219. I haven't been able to find a replacement set of transparencies for that Westland Wallace. I might be able to bodge something eventually.
But all this talk of the Blenheim makes me wish Airfix would give us a modern tooling. I'm sure its one that would sell like hot cakes.

Do what ever you can, with what you have.
I personally almost never build anything exactly out of the box, and never have. so nostalgia for me could mean gluing F-86 wings on a Mustang.
The 40+ year old decals are probobly not usable, so there again, whatever you fancy - When I was a lad I decorated several planes, not least a Frog Me262, with the Blue Oyster Cult symbol, using masks of my own invention.
Rock on
It was dark over Westfalia in April of '45 !
(this thread now has a theme song, at least in my head)

I'm cool with this. researching the diaspora of FROG I realize that many of the kits of my youth were reboxed FROG kits. That's rather cool. What is also rather cool is how cheaply one can pick up an old kit.
To that end I picked up an A-20 kit too. (happens to be one of the early kits I remember building in the mid '70s. I was really impressed as an 8 year old that it had separately molded radial engines!)
This campaign could be a sweet detour from the sea of resin and PE parts I'm currently awash in.
Cheers,
Fred

Welcome aboard Fred.
They must really have over produced their kits in vast quantities, as you say, they are still plentiful and cheap after 40 years. We can be thankful for that. It makes me laugh when some one on e-bay says 'rare' in their listing and wants $40 or something.

Well I will have to qualify that last post. some of the kits are indeed rare. All the ships for example, are hard to find.
I mainly do 1/144 scale, so I have been hoping to find a FROG 707 kit, one of only two Frog 1/144 scale kits, the other was a VC-10, but those are also not to be found.
I have recently landed a NOVO made version.
looks pretty decent. nicer than the Minicraft 707 kit.
Don't guess Ill use that decal.

Jonathan, That kit looks in much better condition than mine. Obviously well stored.

It is a prize find. I wont be able to throw away the box.
Here is another little gem-
Amy Johnson's "Jason", in which she became the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia in 1930, for which she received the CBE. Her life was a Graham Greene novel - which Graham Greene story was it that features a Gipsy Moth...?

Here's a nice one
Look at all that lovely flash, those detatched parts and that extremely detailed 1960s detail! I think I've found my victim!

That does look appealing. I have never seen a Frog original of that kit.

It appears that they released it in Jersey Airlines and Malaysian Air Force versions at the very least. Here's an amusing build.

Found a couple more stragglers:
The boxes are smoke damaged, but the plastic didn't suffer (at least no more than the original molding), they still smell a little of the fire. The decals haven't survived in the greatest shape. The Mustang is missing painting instructions for an RAF Mustang Mk II around D-Day.

The Frog campaign starts in just a few weeks. I havent done much kit building recently, but I keep buying more old kits.
I couldnt pass up this version of the 707 from Poland
The flashiest molding Ive ever seen.
The unmistakable sprues still have Frog's catalog number tag
Horrible decal, no doors for one thing, though I like the idea of modeling the Chilean Air Force
the kit contains these mysterious tubes

Sometimes when you buy collections of kits you find hidden kits in other boxes, like this one..
It was in a box with another model and I do believe it is a Novo reissue of a Frog kit. Notice the decals are totally rubbish (check out the middle of the roundels). I would like to build this one for the campaign if I may, but with different decals obviously..
I just looked through one of my decal stashes and found that I have an Esci decal sheet chockers with French Markings for all sorts of aircraft.. But no numbers unfortunately.. Maybe the numbers on the Novo sheet won't explode..
