Thanks for that Brent.

Got some hail but the storm only lasted about 5 minutes. Typical tropical storm.
Cheers

Glad to hear no damage your way. Severe weather this way also. Straight line winds (45-80 mph), heavy rain, hail and tornadoes from Tennessee to Pennsylvania. Two fronts about 45 min apart. It's hard to airbrush with no electric isn't it?
No damage here except for some trees.

Good to hear mate. You could always use a can of air, or like I used to do, a pumped up tyres tube to run the brush when I was a young tacker.. Is amazing how long a bicycle tyre can power an airbrush.

You may be right, I may be crazy.

I've used the can but never tried the (tyre) inner tube. Have to give it a go some time.

Sunny morning here in Indiana. Everything is still in one piece.
Been quiet on this thread a bit but not idle. Worked on the Legends resin cockpit only to find the instrument panel would not fit into the fuse without mod. to the cockpit side panel inserts. After some hand wringing I managed to button up the fuse without much fuss. Wings on now, just inspecting and sanding the seams.
This kit goes together well, but I took note from a few builds I read online and it has, so far, saved me some headache.
Dunno if others do this but I'm finding that researching previous builds of the kit itself on the web is every bit as helpful as research done for the AC itself.
Cheers,
Fred

Well done, Warren! Nice Fiat you have there.
Fred, your build looks to me like a Curtiss Hawk, right?
Well. while the Bf 109 still waits for RLM 74 (76 and 75 are done), the Buchon proceeds faster and is ready for some Future (or "Bodenglänzer", as it's called in Germany), which I have just applied. Tomorrow I'll start with the decals. Keep your fingers crossed, the Academy decals have not the best reputation ....

Everything should be done by next weekend.
So it will be one eye on the Buchon tomorrow and the other on TV, when England plays against Germany in Wembley ....

Here you can see the difference in the blue colour between flash (above) and no flash (below) ....

Your Mule is looking great Torsten!
Flash makes a lot of difference for photos.
I have used quite a few Academy decals and haven't had any trouble with them. Just try not to pull them off the backing before it is nice and soft or they will tear.
Cheers

@Torsten: Your NMF is coming along nicely! (Ach, Sie sind Einwohner Baden Wuerttemberg! Woher kommen sie? Ich kenne Breisgau und Karlsruehe sehr gut!)
re: my build. Yeah, its a Hobbycraft Hawk 75. It will be in french livery, either french, vichy, or free french livery. (all depends if I'm feeling up to masking all the stripes!
Cheers,
Fred

Fred, that's nice! I live in Karlsruhe. How come you know this place? Have you been here with the Army/Air Force? The US Army left Karlsruhe in 1995 and the French Army already in 1992. Still a small Bundeswehr (German Army) contingent in the city, but not much ....

While the spanish senorita gets the decals and some final bits and pieces, the italian Bf 109 slowly also turns into a bella donna ....

.... what makes this aircraft so interesting, is the complete overpainting of the german insignias on the fuselage with green paint, which also includes the swastika. I used FS 34092 for it. Next step is to apply the mottling in 74/75.

Steady as she goes...
Managed to get the glazings mounted, seams checked, final primer coat on. Time to start planing the Vichy stripes.
Cheers,
Fred

John, your MC 202 looks really nice. I see, it's one of the few Folgores flying at the Eastern Front (yellow fuselage band). Funny, that the Italians kept their North African camouflage over there in Russia.
I have also finished the first part of my builds. The Buchon ist ready for take off ....

More and better photos soon in the gallery and in my Assembly Line Thread ....

Thanks Brent & Torsten !!
I didn't know that they sent it to Eastern Front.
Well, that was the scheme on the Italeri's sheet.
Your Buchon looks great !

Thanks for your comments, guys!

My Buchon soon will get some company with the italian Bf 109. Should be ready by next week. A little mishap occured, but it's no tragedy ....
John, most of the aircrafts the Regia Aeronautica sent to Russia were MC 200 Saettas but in September 1942 12 Folgores were given to the 21. Gruppo, based in the southern sector of the Eastern Front.

The spinner spiral decal quit the job and tore apart in several pieces. So I had to go a different way and painted the spiral with a brush but that didn't look good to me and I changed to plan C. That meant to airbrush the whole thing. First White, then covered the spiral with Kip Tape and airbrushed the whole stuff again with black. It's not perfect but for the first time I did this it looks okay ....

.... all decals are on, the underwing gun packages and the external tank are glued to the frame, so my Hundrednine should be ready within the next 2-3 days ....
