And so it begins and I love Lili, is there a coin in charge?

I'd also recommend Radu's supplementary decals.

Chuck, Oh my, what a detailed update. Your method of using wire strand to make wire wraps is something so simple, yet something I've never thought of. Same with the furnace tape. Have a whole roll down in the boiler room, and never gave it a thought.

And Lecotenent Margod is intoxicating to say the least. Just one favor to consider, some of your printed explanations are a little small, and therefor hard to read for us older guys with poor eye site. The larger ones are the perfect size, and very easy to read.

Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to your next update.

My most sincere thanks to all- and I would be remiss not to mention Jean Barby's generosity in sharing h the pics of his A-One IAR build- cheers! Joel, you're not the only one who's asked for a -ahem- clearer presentation- take note!

I present my last post for 2013- hooray! I've really gotten absorbed into the details of the cockpit- such a challenge not only to build, but to learn about all the various sub-systems and widgets. You'll also note that I've replace my "artistic' chicken-scratch with actual typography- I hope it suits you.

The lovely Marina will be your guide- cheers- and a happy New Year to one and all!

Chuck, 1st, thank you for the larger print size, and the newer computer font. Marina is our 3rd guide, and is just stunning as Lili & Margo to say the least.

Your cockpit detailing is beyond amazing. Not only is your build a true learning experience, but it's so entertaining I can't wait for the next update.

Happy Holidays, and may you have a outstanding New Year.

Save the best for last.
A very good 2014.
Hope you entertain us next year, the way you did last year.
My compliments for the presentation, I real joy to watch.

Perfect timing Chuck; I was just stuck in a rut, so thank you.

Great work as always, I don't know where you find reference material for subjects like this - I'm having a hard enough time for much more mainstream subjects.

This truly is a spectacular kit! I haven't started mine yet. I'm hoping they release the earlier -80 this year.

The cockpit is already great out of the box, you are doing a fantastic job taking it to the next level!

Thanks, everyone! I got this all painted up yesterday but didn't have time to post. I'm pushing a few techniques beyond what I've done before, so I hope you find it interesting.
Matt, I use Radu's book as my main source- it's really the guide on the subject. I'm also getting a ton of info from the Machete Forum in, where else- Romania! They have an IAR 80/81 group build in progress and are quite passionate about the subject.

Chuck,

Do you have a link to the Romanian forum with the group build of the IAR 80/81?

Thanks Chuck! I was looking for a Machete forum, and not getting any good results

As my wife is Romanian (looks a bit like your Marina ), I of course have a soft spot for any Romanian subjects.

Thanks,

Doug

Chuck, the interior is simply amazing. Your painting technique is completely new to me, and I'll have to give it a try. Cockpit weathering is just near on perfect.

Thanks for teaching me the proper name for this technique in your 410(?) build - so I could use its proper name in my Mossie thread lol.

I think it's interesting to see how differently we all paint interiors. As far as how much of it some of us assemble and glue before we paint and others who paint each part as it's cut off the sprue and then assemble in one step.
