EASILY one of the most spectacular models I have seen built, anywhere, anyplace, anytime. And the closing pic with the two girls is absolutely charming.
I'm in awe.

Chuck
I've been along for the ride since day 1. And what a ride it's been. Not the smoothest at times, but you came through like the master modeler you are, and smoothed out every one of those bumps and ruts in the road. Ok, so the girls helped when the going got tough. I learned a lot, and marveled at your techniques and master craftsman's skills. Every build sooner or later has it's end, and the IAR 81C has reached its conclusion with the best closing picture I've ever seen on Aeroscale bar none.
So what's next for you and the girls?

As a closing gesture I thought it might be fun to see what a real female aviator from Romania looked like in WWII:
See http://ww2db.com/person_bio.php?person_id=892
Chuck got it right here, too, with some artistic licence with skirt length, etc.

Hi Chuck
Gorgeous build from start to finish! I could have sworn that, at one point you said you were going to keep it pretty clean because the real IARs were well-maintained, but I have to say I really like the hard-used look.
I'd love to see you tackle something like a Hellcat, because a convincing weather-beaten finish on a naval aircraft is a real challenge and I'm sure we could all learn from your finishing techniques (I tried it once and threw my effort in the bin for being too cartoon-like!). Of course, scantily clad women would cause a riot running around the decks of a carrier!
All the best

Hi Chuck, beautiful build of a very nice aircraft. Your scratch building skills are absolutely first rate!

Cheers Richard
I'd forgotten that beauty! Actually, though, I was thinking of the classic 3-tone US Navy scheme - that's what I came unstuck on and scrapped as looking too exaggerated when I weathered it.
It's fun looking back at one of Chuck's vintage builds and seeing the old codgers illustrating the pics - I somehow don't think they'd cause the same riot on a carrier as Chuck's recent artwork...

Thanks, everyone! I really do appreciate your reading along, and all these kind words have put a big smile on my face- cheers!
I'm currently painting a prototype statue for Dark Horse Comics- hopefully I'll be able to show that very soon. Next, I'll be going back to this diorama that got mired on my Shelf Of Doom-
http://www.modelersalliance.com/forum/chukw/147831-well-provisioned-lil-chuk-builds-some-targets
I'll continue this build in Armorama's Diorama forum.
Then I'll leave my comfort zone and do a Vietnam era US aircraft in 1/48- with new helpers!
Stay tuned- and thanks again!

Obviously he's going to do a U-6 Beaver or an OV-1 Mohawk.
Everything else has been done like dinner.

Richard wins the prize! It will be a JOV-1A Mohawk- with Eduard, True Details and Quickboost goodies. The hostess- well, you'll just have to wait and see.
I lifted that bulb filament idea from some smart modeler- I can't take credit.
Again, thanks for the compliments!
