A quick question: would it be acceptable to add rigging? Or is that outside the scope of the generally OOB feel to the campaign?
It's up to you if you want to rig.
Should be no problem, I have added seat belts so why not?
And I've started re-cabling my radio.

RE8 progress
done a little rigging - just a flavour… am still considering adding a bit more…
Also have added a floor to the fuselage, the beginnings of a dash board and a seat for the poor pilot that flew this thing.
Will add seat belts too from wine bottle foil and then the guns.
Cheers

I have decided not to continue with the 1/24 Spitfire build at the moment due to the fact I have already completed the Defiant. I am loving all the ongoing builds/

Great looking RE8. I have one in the stash that I've been putting off given it's antiquity, but seeing yours is tempting me to crack on with it. Are you going for RFC or Belgian markings?

Thanks! It is a nice little kit despite its age. You do have to work with it though - a bit like old people. I'll do it up in RFC markings I think.
Cheers

It does that. I was thinking of scratching a new interior using some builds of the Wingnut Wings kit as a reference point. Luckily I some spare parts from Roden kits that will help enormously. Some new guns are a must!

@ Stephen
You're right; the guns do need replacing.
I’ve ordered the following from Mini Art:
dual Lewis guns on mount
and the Vickers Mk1
Cheers

Unboxing the Jaguar, with the Gulf War decals it'll end up wearing. Should make a start on the kit itself tomorrow

They'll really make it pop. Miniart guns are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the final result.

Slowly getting towards completion. Using a brush. Bit rough for first model in 38 years but will try and tidy it for finishing.

Fuselage together. This may have come out of a Revell box, but the sprue design and shape, and the fit, are definitely 1970s Airfix!

Great minds think alike! I have the R.E.8 kit in my stash, and I picked up that same Lewis gun mount, and some replacement aircrew from PJ productions.
You're a brave man to take this kit on for a campaign, I'm expecting to take a year to build mine!

Still around just have not had much time or energy to work on the the SBD only real progress I've made is that its primed and ready to paint, and I'm going to try airbrushing the paint on for the first time. Also found another error on the SBD as well, the engine cowl is misshaped so it protrudes out slightly more on the left side then on the right also the fit to the body was bad as well. All the errors on this kit has kind of killed some of my motivation but still going to try and finish it.
But at this point I definitely would not recommend the Airfix SBD until it gets a new tool. Unless I just got a lemon there is just to much wrong with this kit.

More WIP on the Jaguar. Fit isn't great in places, but it is quite an old mould now. A few joints to work on. As the original gulf colour was applied over the top of the grey/green, I'm going to do the same

@ Dave, your Jag looks very nice.
Not much progress on the RE8 to report...
Rude seat belts (quality wine foil) added...
Scratched braces on the upper wing too...
I don't understand why Airfix don't include the upper wing braces in the kit. They are there in the painting guide in the instructions, but not on the runners...
And drilled out the exhausts..
Now to add the extra rigging (cabling/wiring - take your pick)….
Guns have still not arrived (from Ukraine) and am beginning to doubt this baby will be finished by end of the month… Aeeeiiiiiiiii
Cheers

last bit of rigging/cabling/wiring done.
It is not a complete rigging, but rather a flavour... It's a model after all, not a scale replica.
Quick question: did the gunner in the rear of the RE8 not have a seat? Did he really spend his time standing there, ocassionally firing off his Lewis guns?...
Nowhere to sit, poor chap....

Nice work everyone!
Looks like time's a-wastin', I'd better get to work on the Tiffie!
Here's where I'm at right now:
Hope to do some pre-shading today. I actually have three projects going on right now and they're all Airfix, but this is the one slated for this campaign so I'd better crack on!

My first attempt at preshading with a marker instead of airbrush:
I still can't draw a straight line to save my life, but this sure goes faster and looks cleaner when done!

Nowhere to sit, poor chap....
Gunners in two seaters usually had a smallish round stool, so they could spin around in their cockpit without knocking all the interior fixtures about.

I finally finished the Tiger. Just a leisurely build but the tracks were a pain. They're silver and flexible and after painting them all the paint flaked off during installation! A week of calm breathing and I got them on and painted.
