Hi Jessica, no they can only be used one way, the other side is flatter in profile but even rougher.

Matthew, Your halftrack is fantastic, it makes me want to try some armor!

As for my P-39, since I’m building my Airacobra as in Soviet service, the underwing .50 cal gun pods won’t be used.

Unfortunately, Airfix chose to mount the pod parts in deep troughs cut into the wings. I filled these in with cyanoacrylate (super glue) and sanded them smooth.

Hello all!
Had a few mundane issues in the real world that meant I've not really touched my entry to this campaign since my second post here all those weeks ago.
I'm now in two minds whether to carry on with the dornier, or grab something else out the stash, what with the quite complicated colour scheme, and the fact the fuselage isn't together yet and the end looming up, I do want to do this kit justice.

I'll have a think today and get back to the thread.

Finished!

Airfix’s ancient P-39Q is a typical kit of its era, bit it's definitely not the best 1/72 Airacobra available today. The good decals provided with the current issue are at least an improvement, but this venerable kit should really be retired. Still, I had fun with it!

That's absolute proof that you don't need a great kit to make a great model

right, i've had a chance to think about how i'm going to continue with this campaign, i was actually under the impression that it ended at the end of this month, not the end of next month like it does!
however due to the fact i'm off on holiday in a while, that still leaves me very tight for time to finish the dornier. heres how it stands now-

as you can see its still got quite a way to go, to that end i'm going to swap over to this-

i should be able to get this kit finished in time then soldier on with the dornier

I've gotten a bit of progress with my Beaufighter. The main assembly and painting is done. I've deviated from the instructions and given her a set of invasion stripes. This is to recreate a photo of this aircraft in the May 2015 issue of Airfix Model World. The photo shows her identification number MB-T as a light color, possibly white or yellow, while the kit decals are red. Oh well.

This kit really makes it hard to wait until the new tool Airfix kit comes out.

Hi Rodger the old Airfix kit goes together quite well for it's age and I have used the kit's invasion stripe decals but marked her as an RNZAF 489 Squadron machine operating as part of the Banff strike wing. I scratch built an interior but little can be seen through the coke bottle like canopy. I drilled out the canon ports and put plastic tube behind it to give it depth and created the ply wood tail they put on the torpedo's to make sure they didn't dive too deep.

Hey All,

I'm coming late to this party with this old chestnut....

I hope it will come up to the high standards of the rest of the builds on this thread.

I plan to get it started tonight...

Cheers

I can’t believe this kit first came off the mould in 1958!…

(Please excuse the dirt under my thumbnail.)

This is where I got to tonight…

Amazing! There are only five steps to this kit. But then there are 57 years of flash to pare away…

But it’s still a lovely kit.

Cheers

Still a month to go. I've just bought the Revell 1/48 Jaguar GR1, which all the reviews say is a rebox of the Airfix mould. Would that be eligible for the campaign?

Here is a bit of progress with the ancient RE8...

A quick question: would it be acceptable to add rigging? Or is that outside the scope of the generally OOB feel to the campaign?

Cheers

It's up to you if you want to rig.

Should be no problem, I have added seat belts so why not?
