Oliver, thanks for you explanation on how you ground the interior of the fuselage. It gives me some ideas on what to do with the SR A.29 when or if I pull the box from the shelf and disassemble the fuselage for sometime in the future.

Me too!
To get a sense of how things will look, I cut the Catalina parts off the trees and quick-fit them temporarily with Elmer’s (white PVA) glue. Nice.
The only problems I see so far are the missing support struts under the wings and the too-thick propellers.

Hi Bob,
Yes, I'll probably build the B-17s too at some point. They are also well done kits for the scale, even including landing gear!

The PBY has now been taken apart, reassembled using plastic cement, and painted/decalled up. I also added the missing underwing support struts with bits of .010 inch plastic strip.
Instead of fixing the out of scale kit propellers, I decided to sidestep the problem and depict them as spinning. Using my trusty Waldron Model Products Precision Punch & Die set (punch #6), I made a couple of .160 inch clear plastic discs to represent the Cat’s propeller arcs.
The dynamic propellers suggested flight, so I reattached the wingtip floats in their in-flight configuration.
The propeller hubs were .023 inch discs cut from .010 inch thick sheet plastic.

Jonathan and Jose. Thanks for the comments, but to be honest the beaching gear does not let it sit square, there is a tilt

here we are folks, the finished Porco Rosso flying boat.
i have to say this is one of the best kits i have ever built. the fit is perfect, i didn't use any filler at all. very very little flash and the decals went on very well with sol and set.
best of luck to everyone else.
cheers paul

Paul, she is a nice build and to hear that no putty was used makes her even the more special. Congrats!
