Small step forward, I mounted the horizontal stabs, so the airframe is complete.

It measures 17 inches by 10 inches, which is about the same dimensions (though opposite, if you follow me) of an F-18 in 1/48 scale.
I love the two story high barn doors into the hold under the wings. It would be a good subject for an open doors dio.

I'm trying not to start any new kits until i wrap up some in-progress ones. But flying boats are too good to pass up really 
I have a Revell Dornier DO24 i started a few years ago. The "maximum 33% started" for this campaign is generous. But i would like to get an "ok" first.
The current state is this. The wings haven been glued together (but no filler yet), as well as the sponsons. Total of 12 part. But they're big parts.
Honestly though, there are not a lot of parts in the kit:

Great work on the Catalina! It's got to be my all-time favourite flying-boat, and I was really chuffed to see the real thing fly over Ryde a few years back.
You wouldn't want it anymore! LOL! - I made a start hacking at the kit the other day. But before I found it in the Stash, I noted that places are selling the Encore re-box, so you should be able to track one down pretty easily.

In my opinion, that much work done amounts to maybe 2% completed.
Congratulations big Bob, a splendid result! I see you have a lot of irons in the fire around the place, I am impressed you can get so many models to such an advanced level simultaneously.

OK, great. We have a nice campaign going now.
I worked on the Mars engines today, the form off the sheet as said is very thin, but I found by pure luck a piece of stout plastic tubing that fit inside perfectly, so I built up the engine cowlings over the tubing.
This was rather tedious and produced less than beautiful results, but they are done.
A coat of primer reveals much more filling and fairing required.
A drawback to this kit is the need to build up the props from parts. I am thinking of making props in motion out of clear plastic circles, as Tim did on his micro-Catalina.
I also did some filling and fairing of the wing root joins, and dusted the top of the hull with primer. that looks mostly done.

alas, "what are you going to do with it?" is a question we all face isnt it.
any way, onward. a baby step perhaps, the nacelles trimmed to the proper length, intakes and oil coolers installed. the engines are dry fitted, still have to scribe and cut the cooling louvers.

If I could make a suggestion regarding the cooling louvers, Archer makes a nice set of resin louvers in a small scale that could be used, they are decal based and stand proud of the surface, so if the louvers are indented they probably won't work. I used them on a 1/72 Grumman JF-2 Duck recently, and they look pretty good.
