Hi Torsten,

Yes, it's the Hobbyboss 1/48 IAR-80. Very nice kit, while the sprue gates are a bit thick, nothing a sanding stick can't take care of. Fun and fast build. The decals were ok, though I did get a little aggressive on the starboard national insignia.

It's an interesting plane, going full production in 1939, it was totally up to speed with the competition. And apparently, it did very well against P-38's, not an easy thing!

Though, as with war, things go by the wayside. Stalin was not happy to have a Romanian plane competing with the homeland planes, so only replicas are in existence today. In my opinion, it was a far better plane than anything the Russians had at the time. But, as it's said, "To the victors, goes the spoils". Hence, no original IAR-80's are left.

Still, this is a great kit! Build it!! You'll have fun, and be surprised at how fast it goes together. Just be gentle with the decals.

Haven't done any modelling in quite some time and this fellow has been sitting on my bench unloved, so tried to smash it out and get in under the wire.

Got the second colour coat on, and very quickly followed up with a gloss coat

Then it was decals, fortunately not a lot of those then on to all the final bits and pieces that needed attaching

and then finished.

Looks like I nede to touch up the wheels after the rough handling in my haste, but it's finished.

Well, time to put this one to bed. Great job everyone!

Thus ends our World War II 75th Anniversary campaign series. It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of great models. Thanks to everyone who participated and congrats to everyone who completed!

Ribbons have been distributed so if you didn't get one and think you should have, let me know (Chaz, don't forget to post that nice PZL in the gallery.)

Thanks all, and see you around the site!

.... Shrimpman, same to you. Lovely Fw 189 there. But what happened to the rear window?

Hi Torsten, as far as I could figure out, the rear window was able to rotate downwards to open the gun port. I wanted to make it in this position to show the MGs. In retrospect that was a mistake, it would look better with nice smooth canopy

Michael,

I found out I have uploaded the picture of my Bulgarian StuG III in the wrong gallery:
https://gallery3.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/31720

BTW-there are also other pictures of finished builds, that I think belonged to Eastern Front Campaign, uploaded there...

I have just uploaded the pictures to the right gallery and I'm looking forward to receiving my ribbon

That's odd. I wonder where that one came from? I didn't set it up.

Oh well, everyone there will get a ribbon as well, I suppose. Though if you posted in that gallery, I'd appreciate if you could also post in the official campaign gallery so we have a clean record.

Thanks, Michael. Pics will get moved. You know, I believe this also happened to GazzaS's Stalingrad campaign recently where two galleries appeared for the same campaign but under slightly different names.

Has anyone noticed this with any other campaigns recently?

I've seen it happen before Shell. I've posted a message in the staff forum about it and hopefully we'll clear it up.
