I've been in a modeling slump lately so I decided to jump into this one with something simple:





I don't really have any experience with 1/144 kits but this seems to be nice one, and goes together quickly. To make it even more simple, I'm going with a -1D with this build (one color!)

By the way, I like the middle ribbon.

I did not know that AFV even produced an F4U much less in 1/144.

Yeppers, and it's really quite well done! They do a version with folded wings too.

1. my eyes are not good enough to see what I would be doing.
2. my big fat fingers cannot hold small parts with out them shooting off to the nether region even with tweezers.

Well, as I said, it goes together quickly. I actually had it painted before I remembered to take pictures.



Quite a lot of very good recessed surface detail and at least a minimal cockpit.



That pitot tube is molded on to the wing. I think I deserve some sort of prize for not knocking it off yet!

About to start on decals.

1/144th scale form AFV club is new to me too.

Thanks! I didn't actually mask the canopy. I painted the outside frames with a very small brush and the inside ones with a toothpick. I think it came out fairly well. By the way, unlike many 1:144 kits I've seen built up, the canopy fit perfectly. The decals are thin and settle in very well, though they're a bit off register and translucent in this sample. Still, I really recommend this kit.

Entering with this as I don't have any built since I sold off all my 21st Century Toys pre-builts. It will be OOB for the most part except for materials around my house.

Here's my start photo. It's Airfix's 1/72 Brewster F2A Buffalo. It's an old bagged Airfix kit, I had to snag a Squadron vac to replace the bomb aiming window.

I almost laid down a coat of interior paint before I snapped the photo. But, the circuit failed in my paint shed, so I've got to wait on repairs.

Maybe this will get my modeling mojo restarted.

Inside of fuselage painted, though I have no idea what color the engine bay is.



Need to finish one as there are 2 more of the same kit packed in the box.

Well, just like that, here it is. The 1/144 AFV Club F4U-1D:



I normally build in 1/48 or 1/32, but I do like the Corsair so I picked a couple of these up. Really a very nice little kit (with the emphasis on little.) It went together very well and even the decals went down nicely, despite being a bit out of register. Here it is with the HUGE Tamiya 1/48 kit:



Can't wait to finish the 1/32 one and see how that looks!

I'll need to find my acrylic filler or buy more when I go to the LHS 200 miles away. The wing joints need some filling. I started priming but I'll put this one away until I get the seams filled.

Hi everyone, jumping in here with a classic Tamiya kit, and my first FW190
Sprayed some Mr surfacer 1500 for primer and am adding Ultracast wheels and a seat as my usual go to. Ive got some aftermarket decals that I may or may not go for, see how I feel. Cheers!

Making bits of progress. Getting the interior painted. The pilot is in the paint shop. Tried my first ever vac 'canopy' to get a replacement for the missing ventral glass. Almost didn't screw it up.

Might have trimmed it a might too small, it's hard to get in position and it keeps slipping through. Might have to add a shim to make sure that the glue really holds.

Progress update, things are together, masking is down. Tamiya have you cut the masking out which is a bit of a pain but a nice touch to have it included. Should be able to get a coat of mr surfacer 1500 on as a primer tomorrow

This arrived very recently and as it has a radial engine and was a fighter, I'll see if I can get it finished in time!

I bought some plastic (Vallejo Acrylic) putty. I love the stuff for seams as it cleans up nicely with a wet cotton swab and paper towels. Now I have to sand and prime for my next step.
