Welcome to our Those Radial Fighters Campaign and thanks to Bob for leading it! This campaign is all about fighter aircraft with radial engines. The campaign will run from 1 November, 2019 through 5 July, 2020.
If you want to see the rules and sign up, go here. Post campaign related discussion and in-progress photos in this thread. Pics of finished models should be posted in the campaign gallery.
Looking forward to models of those fighters with big round engines up front!

I pulled out my Tamiya A6M2N RUFE and realized that I have never built an A6M in my building experience.

Chaz, how is your Tamiya kit re: flash?
This is the first time Ive had a Tamiya kit with lots of flash. Must be an old mold.

Pasi: I was looking at that kit when trying to make my decision on what to build for this campaign. I will watch to see how your Ki-84 assembles.
PJ: I have that kit along with the Hasegawa also in hopes of starting the SIG for P-47's,
WEL! I made a mistake that I had told myself not to make. I read the plans re: the main float and its weight to keep the a/c from tail sitting. I started to construct and made the mistake of not installing the counter weight. So an access hole was drilled for some white glue and BB"s

Howdy Y'all
I've changed my mind about the I-16. I'll be building a Ki-84 instead.
Kit is 1:72 scale from Hasegawa.
Looking forward to everyone's builds.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Hi All,
I'm in with Hasegawa's A6M3 Type 22. This one will be pretty much out of the box, but plan to add some brake lines, engine wires, and some seat belts. Still not sure on the final scheme yet.
Paul, nice choice, though seems to me that things are going the route of Japan! Besides, you'd be better doing the P-47 for the SOSIG P-47 Build! Of course I'm a bit biased!
Have fun!

PJ, I have not built many (0) Japanese a/c so this is my chance to branch out. Plus watching yours and the others may help me to improve my building efforts.
The main float is finished and the 1/4" hole is now filled and sanded down to a smooth finish. Maybe Ill look at the instructions more carefully and keep the steps.

I don't know how to make ribbons but I have an idea. So I'll throw in my 2 cents. How about a ribbon with alternating black and gray stripes? It would be a take on the fins of a cylinder from a radial engine. Some people would not know what it signifies, but hey, that may get their curiosity up.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"
